The fourth annual Knights Beach Pro has been run and won in epic conditions yesterday with Dallas Singer (Newcastle, NSW) reigning supreme.
With conditions reaching around one-and-a-half metres during the day, the penultimate event on the 2009 Rebel Sports Pro Tour saw some amazing performances from the best riders in the world. However, it was Singer seemed to have the famed wedge wired, cruising his way through the early rounds in style - including a perfect ten point ride for good measure.
In the final Dallas came head to head with Jake Stone (Sunshine Coast, QLD). Stone, who was also in impeccable form throughout, knocked out current world number two, Dave Winchester (NSW) on his charge to the final. But, in the final it was Singer who stole the show. The pair went wave for wave in the final, however Singer managed to find the better wedges leaving Stone needing a combined wave total of 15.00 to clinch victory. "I'm just relieved to finally win something on the tour, it had been so long since I won anything and it was nice that it was at Knights,” Singer said. "I was devastated looking at how good the conditions were when Winny (Dave Winchester) won it last year, so I made sure that I made it down here this year and it looks like it paid off.”
Having traditionally been a key event for any riders hoping to win the Australasian title, the win now puts Singer in contention to win the 2009 Rebel Sport Pro Tour, which will conclude at Duranbah Beach from the ninth of November "Everybody was surfing really well and I was lucky to scrape past Tom (Rigby) in my semi,” he said. "I’m just over the moon,” said Singer.
The event also coincided with the third and final round of the South Australian Bodyboarding State Titles. The State's best amateur riders had the opportunity to mix it with the cream of Australasian bodyboarding at their home break. In the end it was Lance Hurford (Port Elliott, SA) that narrowly nudged out an in form James Glade-Wright (Victor Harbor, SA). The South Australian State Titles Team will now travel to Duranbah in Queensland in November for the RAW national titles.
The Knights Beach Pro 2009 was supported by The Government of South Australia, South Australian Tourism Commission, The Office of Recreation and Sport - Be Active, Coopers Brewery, Swellnet, Surfing South Australia and the International Bodyboarding Association Australasia.

le BOOGIE's Phil Gallagher put his journalist cap on to record this interview of Dall as he arrived at the Sydney airport after his win.
