Dallas Singer has just released this highlights video from the event:
From the IBA:
The event was run in one day due to the swell forecast. The charts showed nothing for the weekend, so organisers decided to fast-track the event so that it would be completed at the infamous wedge.
The day started with a traditional smoking ceremony, with Lee Ridgeway representing the Worimi people as he blessed all competitors and the beach for the event. Whilst the surf was only small, it was perfect as the action was close to shore giving the large crowd a close up view of their favourite bodyboarders.
In the end Jones was just too strong and secured a win over Novy in the later stages of the final.
The final result being:
Jones Russell, NSW, 1st
Michael Novy, QLD, 2nd
Chase O'Leary, NSW, 3rd
Alex Lincoln, NSW, 4th
