From IBA Australasia:
Around 300 competitors were attracted to the region for the tournament and event director Terry McKenna was ecstatic with the venue. “This is one of the best spots that I have ever seen for a competition of this nature” said McKenna.

“The natural amphitheatre of surf beach combined with the abundance of accommodation makes this the perfect selection of the National titles. Bodyboarding has a younger demographic then surfing and as a result we have a large contingent of families the make the trip for the week” he added.

The Rebel Sport Pro Tour also concluded on the weekend and was the 8th event on the 2011 series. Local rider Lilly Pollard had the dream result winning both the Pro Women’s event which was enough to give her the overall Pro championship for 2011. “I’m so happy” said Lilly. “To finally have a contest on home soil was amazing and everyone loved coming here” she added.

The Pro Men’s final was won by Jones Russell from Port Macquarie with Andrew Lester (Cronulla) second. Both of these riders were in the race for the Rebel Sport Pro Tour Championship by the second placing was enough to secure Lester his 4th championship of his illustrious career.

“I was the youngest winner of the tour in 1998 (at 18 years old) and now the oldest at 31” said Lester.

“I never expected this at this stage of my career” he added.

Dave Winchester (Byron Bay) won the Rebel Sport Pro Tour DK division for 2011.

Overall the move to the new location of Kiama was well received and IBA Australasia are already planning to come back and do it all again in 2012.

From IBA Australasia: "The Rebel Sport Pro was won by Jones Russell, but Andrew Lester finished second, which was enough to secure the Tour Championship for the Cronulla local. Chad Jackson finished up third and Joe Clarke fourth.

Congratulations to both Jones and Andrew for their wins!

The 2011 Title was Lester's fourth! At age 18, he was the Tour's youngest winner, now at 31 he's also the oldest. An incredible achievement!
"

The results from the Nationals will be available at the presentation at 8pm tonight.
