BSC Road Trip

In the early autumn this year BSC assembled some of their finest Gold Coast riders to venture on the inaugural Riptide Road Trip; a concept initiated for the formation of the new riptidemag.com.au as a way to unearth and expose the members of different bodyboarding teams in waves that you’d find yourself if you were to pack the boards and tent in the car and scour the coastline.

The riders for this trip were Joe Clarke, Tom Rigby, Jimmy Williamson and Jordan Putland aka Cuttie, and joining them to document the weekend’s adventure was Riptide Photographer Alex Ormerod and Riptide Ed-man Tim Leeson. Before we get into the action of the weekend let's meet the BSC team for this road tripping adventure.

Name: Jordan Putland
Age: 15
About myself: My nickname’s Cuttie, I live in Currumbin, I’m in year 11 at school and I really like to bodyboard.
Best thing about the trip: Surfing with some bigwigs, getting shots and hanging with mates.
Best thing about BSC: Mick and all the crew are really supportive.
Best thing about hitting the road: Going some place new.

Name: Tom Rigby
Age: 16
Tell us a little something about yourself: I’m from the Gold Coast. I’m in my last year of school and basically I’m surfing and travelling as much as a I can at the moment.
Best thing about the Riptide Road Trip: It was a sick crew of dudes, everyone got along with each other and everyone was ripping!
Best thing about BSC: The amount of support they put into bodyboarding is insane, both in supporting riders and being involved in comps.
Best thing about hitting the road: There’s nothing better than hitting the road with some mates, seeing new places and scoring new waves.

Age: 17
Tell us a little something about yourself: I live in Burleigh, I surf as much as iIcan and living it up in my last year of school!
Best thing about the Riptide road trip: The $30 meat pack, we had some fun with that!
Best thing about BSC: Support! The support they put back into the sport and the riders.
Best thing about hitting the road in general:
Cruise control!

Age: 23
Tell us a little something about yourself: I’m 6ft tall and long (laughs), I live in Burleigh Waters, I’m sponsored by BSC, NMD, STEALTH, I AM NONE and ZION, I enjoy eating T-bones with mushroom sauce, and I’m whipped!
Best thing about the Riptide Road Trip: The $30 dollar meat pack we got from the Yamba butcher! It fed five of us for two days and we still didn’t finish it, amazing! And watching a couple of the young deadshits draw a dick on my car.
Best thing about BSC:
BEN OBOURNE , BEN OBOURNE AND BEN OBOURNE!
Best thing about hitting the road in general:
Being on the open road, crancing the beats and surfing wherever you want.
