Don't Forget your Local Club

The above clip comes from Adam Souter of the Maroubra Bodyboarders (MBB). It features both freesurf and comp footage of their local guys from March. Adam recently wrote to Riptide:

"As you know in the early nineties Maroubra was one of the biggest spots in Australia for bodyboarding, with big names like Bullet and Ross Hawke, but since then Maroubra has been very quiet in the bodyboarding media. For example when I travel and people ask me where I'm from and I reply, 'Maroubra', they typically say 'People bodyboard there? I thought there were only the Bra Boys there!'  This is not the case at all! In Maroubra we have so many extremely talented bodyboarders that are so underrated it annoys me!"

Even though, it's just posting a video online, we hope that it brings a little more attention to Maroubra Bodyboarders and gets a few more riders along to their regular club comps.

Another couple of bodyboarding clubs that are going from strength-to-strength (these are just two of the many great clubs Australia-wide) are Port Stephens and Tamarama. Firstly let's check in with Dallas Singer's beloved club, Port Stephens (P.S.B.C) and their first comp of 2011:

And then there's the 2010 Presentation Day of Sydney's Tamarama Bodyboard Club, that features Jose Marquina, Alex Bunting and Riptide Forum's Doc in its long list of members:

Nice one Tim!
Same as Toby @ PSBC, Tama have a fresh webby on the way, gives a good presence round the place and good to get the grom's names upin lights.
Hit me up on the forum if you have any enquiries about a club in your area, or even how to start one up with your mates.

Hey if anyone is still keen to join MBB, the 2nd comp of the year is this Saturday April 2nd. $100 to join and this year if you want to do two divisions eg open mens and drop knee, no additional fee is required.

If you're not able to surf come down for some fun and a sausage sizzle.

Also check out our new wedsite http://www.maroubrabodyboarders.com.au

If there are any inquires dont hesitate to email me at adam_apricot@ho tmail.com

Cheers
Adam.
