Initial Rider Announcement for the Sumol Special Edition

SUMOL NAZARÉ SPECIAL EDITION PRESENTS THE FIRST FOUR BODYBOARDERS IN THE COMPETITION
Jaime Jesus, Gonçalo “Pitaça” Campos, Fábio “Marreta” Laureano and Luís “Porkito” Pereira will be at Nazaré from October 12th till November 1st 2011

Sumol Nazaré Special Edition is back and presents the first four bodyboarders in the competition: Jaime Jesus, Gonçalo “Pitaça” Campos, Fábio “Marreta” Laureano and Luís “Porkito” Pereira, who won in 2005 and 2007 with some of the biggest waves ever surfed at Portugal.

At the Sumol Nazaré Special Edition 2011 website, already online, the Portuguese athletes describe Praia do Norte, talk about the competition and disclose their expectations towards this year edition. Every week will be released the profile of the national and international bodyboarders participating in this 5th edition of the event, facing Nazaré’s waves.

Incorporated in the International Bodyboard Association (IBA) calendar, the Special Edition will see this year its waiting period from October 12th to November 1st and count on, as usual, with famous names of this sport.

“Sumol Nazaré Special Edition is already a mark in the country's sports calendar and, merit to its organization, has already conquered a place among the big events of waves sports in Portugal”, says Jorge Barroso, Mayor of Nazaré, in he’s welcome message, pointing that this event was the “Starting point for Praia do Norte projection as a perfect spot for these sports”.

Considered as Nazaré’s “Queen Wave” and one of the most respected in all European coast, Praia do Norte is recognized for its perfect and big waves.

For this fifth edition, the organization will keep the same concept as before, offering all competitors excellent wave conditions, during the established waiting period.

The theme is settled for another unique event, promising a lot of action in Nazaré’s waves.
