POV / GoPro footage - put yours in too!

Postby doclach » Sun Jan 02, 2011 9:52 am

The general term for the footage angle that GoPro shoots is "POV" (Point Of View). There are more cams suitable for water shooting coming out gradually, but the GoPro is still one of the most well known, so I've banged that in the title as well.
Now that Santa has been , there will be even more riders with one of these sorts of cams.
One of the 'problems' is that sometimes people feel a pressure to have some amazing edit that will blow people's minds, so we don;t get to see a lot of the fun stuff.
This thread is for everyone who has these cams to just upload some footage for us all to see, whatever the quality, doesn't even have to be boog, Smoido put up a random one recently and it was great to watch.

Bang some of your finds in here too if you want, whatever.

If you have any problems uploading to vimeo (better quality, also a free account) or youtube, just holler. Same if you have trouble embedding the code into the site, check this first though:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3320

I'll bang it off with some footage from the Pacific by Adam Warmington which he loaded up for New Years.

Remember, don;t just leave that footage hanging on your hard drive, get it on here for us to froth on :!:

Hey Doc! hey there all fellow bodyboarders,

Here is two of my better go pro videos I have made over the last year.

Unfortunately some recent shoulder stablisation surgery has put me out of water til May this year, so no more videos for a while...

I really do enjoy getting this footage and showing both the bodyboarding fraternity and the general joe blows. So I'm pretty amping for my shoulder to heal and to get out there again soon!

But here they are if you havent seen them before (or want to see them again)

Be safe, paddle harder.

This is a rad idea for a thread, hopefully we get all sorts of vids.

Had a session today, pretty small and very inco, after surfing for a while without my cam i went in and grabbed it and swam out to an exposed reef to play around and try and find some fish to film. i didnt have a board with a mount with me so i just held it in my hand. As i swam back in and thought id try and grab a few waves and film it with the gopro in my hand. It's a little harder to ride with one hand (and even harder to try an el rollo i found out :D ) but you can get some different angles and you can change the angle mid ride, as can be seen in this little clip i quickly made today

@ Chiefy , mate always good to see your stuff, I watch it heaps anyway, haha. One of the new young Tama groms put up some random pixellated gopro footage from the Island on their facey, I'm like nooo, THIS is proper Island footage and put one of yours in - they freaked

@Meaksy, nice to see you getting some more surfs in, plus the still shots, seeing some great GoPro stills around these days. I'll put a thread up in self promo for them actually...

There is a video made by Joe Jordanoff -

I was at his house for a BBQ just the other week, and we were chatting about GoPro's. At the time he said he was still mucking around and couldn't wait to get some good shots, so it looks like he finally has!

Just to show it doesn't have to be big surf to get some damn sweet footage....

Awesome clip, good combination of emptys, POV and riding all in varying lighting, like how it ends with a nice long barrel ride as well

I broke my collarbone 3 weeks ago in a 1ft shorey at Tugun near coolangatta. So i havnt been able to surf or skate lately, but i got a new longboard and finally got a chance to test it out. Also mucking around with some new angles and stuff on the GoPro which was fun. So here it is.

^^ How good is the slow mo footage. Must have been shot at like 120fps def not GoPro.

I imagine that new mount from sportscamera will look roughly like those shots from behind.

It's all GoPro Swoods, but the processing is through a slo-mo program a lot of the pro's are using atm called "Twixtor".
Hope fully the sportscamera mount will give a pretty simillar rear to forward view when that deep in the barrel.
