a friend posted this one his facebook earlier this morning, here's the guys original vimeo upload

Me my Shark and I
by Chuck Patterson

The day before I shot this video, i was SUP surfing with a couple friends and 2 sharks circled us for about 15 minutes. the next day, i decided to go back out at around the same time and take my GO PRO HD HERO camera (gopro.com) mounted on a 10 ft pole and do some exploring.
Sure enough within 5 minutes a 9 ft shark came out of no where and circled twice and slapped his tail on my board before disappearing. then a minute later a 7 ft young juvenile Great White swam circles around me for 12 minutes. It was an unreal experience that I will cherish forever. chuckpattersonsports.com

What a ballsy mother, I suppose his keeping cool helped attribute to the fact we're watching the footage he uploaded and not of a horrific shark attack caught on film.

Poor guy... What a hectic story. Good effort by the guys that kept him alive on the beach.

It was an honour to try and save a brother. It feels like I've lost a brother.

We treated him real good. We did everything we possibly could. He didn't die alone. We really pumped his heart. I did mouth-to-mouth and gave him my breath, but it wasn't enough.

If I had have been attacked, that's how I would like to be looked after. We're surfers, it could happen to any of us at any time.

this quote from one of the surfers that helped to try and revive the guy really struck me and i think it can really apply to anyone who has a great respect for the ocean (bodyboarders, surfers, stand up paddle boarders, snorkellers etc.) and also to anyone who receives as much enjoyment from it as we do, especially that last line

I was out by myself last sesh and saw a seal 20m away then few minutes later, i saw a fin about 10m away from me, paddled into the shallow part of the reef then saw a fin coming towards, i shat myself then it jumped out of the water and it was a dolphin, couldn't me more glad.
