I'm a blow in (though will be moving down soon), and I have sent someone in before. Wasn't just for one drop in, though. Dude was a genuine danger to everyone there. A big difference from your amusing little anecdote, anyway :D

captain, are you familiar with any of the breaks on the south side of injidup? Like, on the other side of the big sand dune there. Me and a friend had a look and it looks pretty sweet; ideal with a NE wind or something. Do they have a name or anything?

He was wearing a wetsuit in summer! That kind of attitude is just intolerable :)

Nah, I mean a bit further along the beach from there. They don't really look particularly crazy and they break along some reef. They look pretty fun, except that I have no idea how shallow it is or anything.

yeah casp there are a couple of sneaky little 4by tracks in the area that pass through some private property, that can take you to a couple of reefs behind there, i check a spot there regularly but its hardly ever cracking, it needs a really small swell with a tad of south in it and NE wind. one day when its not great down there have a sniff around inj and if your lucky you will find some 4by tracks.

hey gurney iv surfed that far, far inj point before, right out the very very end, at about 4ft with some bigger ones and its a really hectic break and changes with the tide heaps.

you have to be prepared for what could turn into a massive paddle out there, you have to paddle out at the 2nd furtherest out point and paddle straight through a big rip which can pull you out into the bay

on a low tide you have to take off just next a dry ledge that sucks and sticks out of the water, pretty much if you come off 2m to your right your gonna go straight onto the ledge- or worse go under the ledge, you gotta be REAL aware because there is a slight current trying to pull you onto the shelf and nail your ass on teh reef. because of the shelf you catch a 2ft little lip that then grows to about 6 ft in the space of 10m as it links up with the swell swinging around the reef and you can ride some bullshit steep faces for a good 100-150m or so, straight into the channel, which is a LONG way out into the bay and super deep, im talking you can bail your board, take off your leash and you wont touch the bottom no matter how hard you swim down.

on a higher tide but it becomes alot more playful, you take off on top of the nasty shelf and gun it for the shoulder to make it out of the shack, then ride the steep faces all the way into the bay. o a higher tide its alot more forgiving, iv never touched the bottom out there so i dont know how sharp it is.

the last time i was out at the furtherest point i was paddling back out to the shoulder from a super fun long steep left and saw a big shadow swim underneath me ok big is a bit of as lie, it was close to 2m i rekon, im unsure whether it was a shark or a trick of the light but when i told my mates at the take off spot we all started wigging out, then a flock of birds on the rocks started going absolutely nuts and screaming and flying all around, then we noticed that a colony of seals had swum up onto the rocks around the corner and we decided it was time to go in.

I remember reading in the sunday times a little while ago that there were reports of a white pointer or two around injidup.

Speaking of the depth there: the outer area of the bay is crazy deep. I'd love to see the point on a really big day, as it looks like that break could handle pretty much any size you throw at it. Hopefully one day we get a 50ft swell or something so we can see what it holds :)

i can imagine it would be pretty spooky out there. the inside of the bay would seem a looooong way away.
