grinders sounds like a good spot savage and 3-4 foot would have been solid enough. I'll get there eventually although i think you've explained before its hard to find - and hard to get too. I'd be taking the long way around too I think. Have been a bit crook - hopefully come good for weekend - haven't checked forecast swoodle but hoping theres left over swell - lately it seems like it works nice through the week and then turns to cr@p on weekend - no good for us weekend warriors.

had a fun surf last night on high tide near 13th that had a fun shorey that was pretty much suckin dry on to sand. then this morning had a suprisingly fun surf at torquay main, scored some double up barrels an managed to come out of a few which was alright. tomorrow and Friday look the go so hopefully hit up somewhere with pumpin waves. as for the weekend derwent, it doesn't look to flash! haha but apparently there is meant to be heaps of swell Sunday? have to check that out myself first before I contemplate getting out of bed before 1pm on a Sunday haha

Thursday morning should be good hopefully. Hope that swell that's predicted fills in overnight.

hey smoido - were you off the point at torquay main? Sounds like fun - haven't been barrelled off the pt but had some long winding rights & has some decent power & size when its working. Have also scored some cracking lefts at zoomos one day - though have to say I am starting to get the idea that may have been a pretty rare set of conditions. Today looked good too savage - and as predicted - weekend looks like its going to bite big time - maybe a teensy grovel sat rather than a windblown cr@ppy messy sunday - hmmm - choices, choices. Just watched 'six months' - vicco section was a highlight - good vid!

pretty average waves at jan juc today for the early - winds ok but smallish and mega high tide - bird rock was working early (just on first light) but figured high tide would kill it. One guy scored some nice ones in the dark though.

Ended up at Grinders again Wednesday morning. Just my mate and myself, and 2 others out for the whole time.
3-4ft, cleanest I've ever surfed it, and throwing out some perfect barrels. Can recall 3 really good bombs that kegged and flung me out into the channel.
Stoked as. Then went home and made the biggest amount of nacho's

Sounds like an excellent session savage - going to have to take some time off, go on a roadie and do some exploring. Jan Juc beach was empty sat - maybe because it was looking pretty cr@p - haha - though eventually some surfers paddled out. Been crook though so a grovel was about all I was up for.

I was at torquay at first light this am - not sure what planet coastalwatch were on when they posted up their morning surf report - but pretty sure it wasn't planet earth:

"Swell size: 3ft
Clean conditions this morning with light west wind. Swell is in the 3ft+ range, reefs are the pick this morning with the low tide. Some fun waves around, hopefully it won't go to SW. "

I'm sorry - but thats a complete airswing - whoever spent 5 seconds watching the surf should have spent an extra 5 seconds - they would have seen it was lumped and bumped and all over the shop.

Swellnet on the otherhand:

"Similar to yesterday...some swell around 3ft but not lined up very well with lumps and bumps. Again waves on the reefs approaching low tide but nothing too exciting. "

Swellnet - 1, Coastalwatch - nil

yesterday was good fun on sparrows near bird rock - even managed to get barrelled which is relatively rare for me. For about a 30 min window as tide came in waves were rolling in nicely and throwing out fun hollow little sections - stoked! Also saw my first seal at torquay - i had just paddled in when i saw it scare the cr@p out of a surfer who was also coming in.

Fun little reef runners on bird rock today but fair bit of waiting around. Anyone else get out?

Yeah I surfed late this arvo Derwent, went out Benzy's (just down the beach past the clubhouse at Juc) which was kinda fun, double-up shorebreak. Ideal for a lid. Was just so good to get in the water. Been so busy lately and hadn't surfed in probably a month. Rock looked funner on the low tide but unfortunately I was sporting a rather bad hangover this morning :(

hey savage - been down that end of the beach but not recently - has occasionally been quite a fun left shorey there on the hightide - sound like the same spot?
Hopefully won't be a month until the next session - sat was ok but would be good if we got a pumping winter swell lining up for the weekend - big but not too big so reefs will hold it.

Hay champs it been a while, very busy few months. Anyone know what happened to the surf coast bodyboard club. Want to try for some glory this summer if there's some comps. How's the temp, I'm a bit week for the winter wedges.

Derwent - yeah that sounds like the peak. Pretty much a bit further towards Torquay way past the clubhouse at Juc. Had some real fun surfs out there.
Jetz not too sure, I'm pretty sure the SCB is still kicking along. Haven't heard much about it this year but I know they usually hold comps at 13th. I'm pretty sure they start around September/October. Never really been to one.
Water's getting pretty cold. Went out Sunday, it's not too bad once you move around. The worst thing is going under waves. Ice cream headache's are starting to occur now.
