Guilherme Tamega

Postby SINNistER » Sun Jul 11, 2010 6:49 pm

I am suprised there isn't a thread on him already.... oh wait actually I am not considering the current trends in aussie bbing these days.

Despite the need to have the right colour combo board, the right asymetrical fins and cregs I still love the way Tamega rides and have done since I first saw him when I started bbing in 92.

I can remember in those days it was less about how he didnt creg and more how he did his cool "frog leg" spins in the most critical parts of the wave and how he had a different style of roll with arms extended.

Legend.

To me his charging in the 1994 Pipe comp changed the way people approached heavy waves forever.

Legend x 2

Dude is a straight up charger... The way he takes on Pipe is mental. Also the footage of him at Fronton is just as insane.

No worries Doclach, after I had posted it I realised it would have been better off in internationals lol Just stoked there is some GT love out there haha

Thanks heaps for posting that vid Pete, I remember that comp clearly, I used to love Eppos air, even though he laded off the back as I am a massive eppo fan (is there an Eppo thread? lol) but GT just blew me away with those rolls.

Heres another cool Tamega clip

So stoked he won Arica, he was charging so hard! Some of those waves he was getting barreled on then hitting were insane. That guy is missing screws upstairs to do that shit. What a machine.

And strange that someone who charges hard and is such a legend doesn't have board model available...

Yeh, you would think it would sell pretty well in south america, don't know about the rest of the world he has a pretty funky shape compared to modern boards.

God damn, when the waves turn on and turn on big and heavy, GT is a machine. At 38 years old to take out this event is seriously impressive. Much props. Good on Wingy too (I was hoping he would of won). But GT killed it.
