Matt those are questions you ought to direct to Gartho Or Simon at Solid directly. They are the ones who know the break types and habits and the divisions of riders in the Solid club.
Good onya for getting involved in the club. Let 'em know where you're at and if you ask nicely i reckon you'll get some coaching/tips on your riding too.
Let us know how it goes.
Remember Garth high-scored at The IBA Hawaii Pipe comp in 09 , so you're in good hands there

Hello peoples...I am not a rider but rather a mum who has been around the bodyboarding scene for a long time I belong to PMBA . Over the years I have seen many changes to our club....kids coming and going...growing up... getting jobs... having families.
I believe that for a club to run successfully attraction rather than promotion is the key. PMBA members pay $75 a year. For that they recieve their insurance...club hoodies...trophies after each comp...camps....and their presso at the end of the year. Not bad hey ? Theres a dedicated team of volunterrs and parents who step forward each month to offer their assistance. We have a fairly good canteen that offers hot food... fruit and drinks for most of the day at a reasonable cost. All the profits go back into the club.
We who are parents take an active roll participating at the comps. While many big kids dont want mum around with some exceptions ...lol...the younger boys and girls really get off on the support. We have fundraisers to raise funds for the qualifiers to Australasian National Titles.
With a laid back attitude and a great comaradery between all the members...our club works because we work it.
Right now we have the best bunch of people and I couldnt feel prouder.

Hey Meaksy, see if you can get onto the SA club honchos and see if they can/want to get comp reports into Riptide for the web. The new frontpage has an entire area set aside for club comp results etc. which is ready to go for 2010. I've let NSWBB know and they're in the process of informing the NSW clubs. :)

Just send the info to Slave cos it needs frontpage access. dunno if he will put it there or the state news (which will stop it getting jumbled with everything else) in the state click-on at: http://www.riptidemag.com.au/state-news ... australia/ (where you click on that red map). That will get some young lads having their name on the RT net, which I reckon they'd be pretty stoked with, plus lets the kids see how the club scene is firing along. From memory there are 3 new clubs in NSW this year. Onya

i dont think 2 days notice and no emails to all competitors of the club is good enough... i am talking about the AGM (meeting to vote in new presidents etc for a club)
GCBC has turned to poo... its a sad day (after a sad year) for the gold coast competitive scene.....
the amount of bullshit and politics in our sport is disgusting...
i hate to sound pessemistic...
on a lighter side good luck to all members who give it a go this year....
now everybody in the 313

a local comp which allows its president to compete recently scored a perfect 10 in the drop knee division for doing one of those dk rolls when you land prone.

i wasn't aware it is 1995 still. The club used to be epic, with competition running until 5 in the arvo, now it is finished by midday.

It is sad when people vote themselves in purely for the fact to promote their business and suck all the life out of the club, which was built over years by people with their heart and soul in bodyboaring and doing it for the pure love/stoke for the kids.

it is even sadder when judging is so poor that dk flop rolls are scored a 10! (the president should know better surely!) They shouldn't be scored at all.
(according to IBA and anyone with a clue)

The bigger comps seem to be doing really well which is great. (The SA event Winny won was on Sports tonight as the play of the day)
but local comps around where i live have become corporate, and somewhat stagnant.
The people in this industry that insist on being dodgy (insert naughty word) will suffer and I will laugh.

I've been thinking of joining a club but I wouldn't know where to begin looking. I don't live near water anymore and I'm always surfing in different spots :/

what area's do you frequent the most. and how old are you, that will help us decide which club is best for you.
