Once again, a competition with such crap communication.. for gawds sakes they could have at least twittered that it would still be held.
I waited up, watching that same bloody conference over and over...from 8am Portugal time.. SWEET-FAR%-ALL!

SERIOUSLY, YOU WANT COMPS TO GROW??
START WITH EFFECTIVE, UP TO THE MINUTE COMMUNICATION!!!!!

AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Same , same here  I also kept a close eye on the twitter (link button on nazare site) and it still hasn't been updated since 11th November. Twitter is easiest to update. Facebook was in Portuguese so no use to me personally. No point offering services, especially something as simple as twitter, if no one is going to bother using it. For what could be a star big wave event, it was really a big let-down. Watching a fixed-loop video, even if it includes waves is dull and confusing as you tune in again working out if it is the live broadcast or same old waves.

The funny thing is, here I am some random dude trying to let the rippies members know that it'll be on...
HOW ABOUT THE BLOODY EVENT ORGANIZERS DO IT!!!!
I reckon I made far more of an effort that them...

Sponsors don't just want the local market to see their product, they want the world to see it...
No wonder it's hard to get sponsors to commit, poor organization skills, poor business skills.
That goes for all the body boarding comp industry..
You are effectively eating your own cash cow and will eventually kill the sport if you don't start marketing the sport correctly!

PISS POOR EFFORT FROM ALL CONCERNED.

10 ft sets.. not perfect still bloody impressive.
1 - Mike Stewart
2 - José Otávio (bra)
3 - Jaime Jesus (por)
4 - Pierre Louis Costes
Mike had a flawless first round, otavio crushed the second round. photos and clips should pop the next couple of days.

Thanks for posting the top four results for us hugo!

Robson, Doc and all the fine forum members that stayed up late, hungry for coverage of the comp, we too share your pain. It's been rather difficult to find much info on the comp, but thankfully (!) we've had a local photographer drop nearly 100 photos over for us. :D There certainly are some crackers in there!

So if you want to check out the post here: http://www.riptidemag.com.au/news/21-news/1746-mike-wins-the-sumol-special-edition you'll find all the coverage we've managed to get our hands on.

Cheers

Cheers Slave,

yes, hugo is a top bloke for bringing us stuff first hand from various locations around the world. Sent the bloke a thankyou pm earlier and he'll be giving us some euro contacts for interviews in our international section over time.

A Plethora of pics from Nazare, thanks to Rippy and the photog there for catching some good angles.

(Barney from NSWBB rang while typing this and he's off to see the pics now - will be giving him heaps to find us a venue like this, haha)

Once again one of the most remarkable atheletes in the world has had a historic victory and the bodyboarding media gives an at best apathetic coverage. I give up.

^^ haha, true Dan (understanding from another old-skooler point of view), but man, if that rippy issue was 2 months late, you'd be like "you guys said you put a mag out every 2 months and it isn't here" (and fair enough that).
If they (Nazare organisers) had have said we're not doing twitter or facebook or a live feed you can watch, then folks would be like "ah, bugger, I'll have to wait and check the websites/whatever".
BUT when it's promised in the various electronic formate that are available today and the links are given and then no one bothers to use them, then folks are like " "
