welp...first day issues with the webcast.

i'm trying to be positive and understanding about the situation down there with alleged destruction of the infrastructure required to stream a live feed in crappy definition to the youtube servers. yet, i can't help but think "didn't they know that first?" or "why didn't they know about this first?" or "they didn't consider a test run??".

i dunno. if it was me, i'd know what i was walking in to first and have a system set in place. for comparison's sake there's no way in hell the ASP would turn out to their most popular event with an untested and collapsing live feed.

i love watching the IBA comps, they're a great thing for bodyboarding as a sport and as just rad old entertainment, but when shit happens like this it really makes it seem real pov. shame. these sort of issues no doubt lead to potential sponsors holding back which in turn keeps capital at the same pov level which results in the same pov webcasts which results in less sponsors which results in ..... and so on. at some point, someone is going to have to beef up the cash within the IBA to help it progress lest it continue in this stalemate forever.

Shit happens. ASP lost their feed 15 mins into the final last year in the French comp.

No the French ASp webcast cut out for a short time. It worked smoothly and perfectly for the entire event. The IBA webcast is consistantly faulty and unreliable. Very unfortunate, as the action most certainly rivals the ASP events in intensity and skill. ALSO the IBA website is woefully slow in being updated. Impossible to get news. I hate facebook, there's no way I'm getting on that bastard just to get IBA updates. Update your website like everyone else IBA. Posting updates only on facebook is just lazy.

Apparently the webcast ran last night for round 3. Did anyone see it?
I didn't even realize until this morning when I checked. From what I've heard it's poor quality. (surprise surprise).
I think they plan to run the next round tonight again at 9:45pm EST. Might tune in.
It's not going to get massive like last year, but they are calling 4-6ft and clean.

yeh i watched last night. constant lagging but there was some ok surfing going down so i persevered with that annoyance til i fell asleep. no doubt it will be like that tonight but i wanna watch it so i'll just have to cop it.

the good thing is when they put the heats up on youtube the next day and you can watch them lag free in a better definition. would be good if they did it a bit sooner and considered putting the names of the competitors in each heat in the video description; pain in the c**t trying to troll through a bunch of heats to find the ones you missed or want to see

starting to think the IBA may be running real low on $$. No Manny V, no Shaggy, everyone is bummin on Alex Leon being on the mic. Hopefully they can find the support they need

Go Jeff!
Waves actually looked pretty good, and surprisingly, I was very impressed with the webcast. No lag at all, pretty clear, good replays etc.
I think they picked up a few sponsors including Red Bull.
Only saw the first couple of rounds. Kind of a shame that Winny got knocked, but 3rd is still sick. Hope he takes the title.
That being said, happy to see Hubb won it. Dude deserves it for sure. I like GT but am kind of sick of seeing him win haha.

By the way? Did anyone see that piece they did on Hubb in the latest movement? Quite an interesting read. Was surprised that he got divorced last year. Didn't know that.

that last day webcast was great. good to see they got it together in the end and that the waves turned on.

just read the article on Le Boogie about the dude from Snakes and Ladders media production crew and about how the IBA stopped using their services. so along with Manny and Shaggy, that whole crew is gone. quite a big change from a viewing perspective. i hope they continue to pump out quality events and webcasts. love watching that shit.
