'Stance' isn't a term people use down under? Ok how l do get from padding prone into the wave and up into the dk position.

oh well i remember winny gave advice to a grom by saying instead of going straight from prone to the Dk position get onto both your knees first then push your foot into the stance position, try and learn dk in 3-4ft waves but really full, so you got alot of time to paddle in, get ballance and attempt a bottom turn.. i find learning in smaller surf gets frustrating cause you dont really go anywhere.. and whatever you do dont learn in sucky places.. bad experiences of boards hitting you in the mouth, it surprisingly hurts
