time for a rant
#1 arugam bay and surronds has good waves not life changingly good but very long righthanders enough room for as many spinners as you want to do and even a few barrells thrown in, acouple of wedgy sections here and there(ive pulled a few nice inverts and a couple of rolls
#2 this place is freakin crowded seriously ive read on some sites that this place compares to superbank(wave quality yes it is comparable to superbank on an average day and for crowds i would say just as bad as superbank only owrse as most of the traveling surfers here seem to be from israel(please dont mistake this as being racist)have little to no wave ettiquete, you can walk out to the point, as i did this morning with a group of cheerful friendly fellas having a chat, introductions and all then as soon as you get in the water they are dropping in left right and centre,i mean dropping in and then yelling at you for being on their wave, also constantly paddling for waves that your already on or in this mornings case decent sized waves at last(4 day flat spell)4-5 foot im i get a few barrells only not to make it out cause ther are 5-10 wave hungry guys desperate to crumble the end section of the tube aaaaaaaaaaaargh
#3 personally i love the local food its dirt cheap and delicous and the beer also $1.50 for a long neck yeeeew(if you can find a place with a good fridge its a double bonus)
#4 locals are super friendly and happy to help you out with any queries or problems that arise
#5 its beautiful no waves go for a half our walk and you can see elephants, buffalo, heaps of birdlife and if your lucky a croccodile and a big one too
so any way i needed a rant and here it is(otherwise my head would have exploded)
walking back from this mornings sesh i was wishing i was in the car with doc and tors heading down the coast,i guess you cant have it all, anyways its been 3 months now since i left the bright lights and big city of sydney, yeah i do miss home but it aint going anywhere and after all the good waves in japan and indo im pretty stoked with how the begining or first quarter of my round the world trip has been,so much more to come, france in a couple of weeks london and berlin(for some art and music)theses are things i miss a lot then off to peru, chile, mexico for some serious slabs then canada for a couple months of pow pow then late season hawaii
