How are you getting there? How much did it set you back?

Well i'm flying from Brisbane direct to Manila, which is north of the country. Then i catch a flight with Cebu Air direct to Siargao island which is of course where cloud 9 is.

All this talk about 38 hour boat rides etc is no longer, Cebu Air now offers direct flights to the island. :D

It's gonna set me back about AUS$2,500 for a 3.5 week stay. All you need is no more then AUS $3000 for 3-4 week stay. :D

I'm going on my own aswell because my mates in the end didnt have the money!! dogs haha, i couldn't give a flying f@ck. no bullshitin here boys.

BTW that's 5,000PHP which is about AUS$130 you can buy it form any local foriegn exchange office i dont know where you boys are at but the Gold Coast is riddled with them, it's just abit of money to cover the visa and food, transport etc.

if you want some clean reasonable priced accomodation that is on the water and at cloud 9 also try our resort www.ocean101cloud9.com my wife is the only resort owner that really comes from cloud 9 so you will be assured a true local hospitality

I went there about 8 years ago back when you needed 2 planes and 2 long ferry rides to get there. Had to stay in some really sketchy motels whilst commuting from island to island. Surigao island is really mellow and cool but most other parts and big cities are really dangerous and we never felt safe especially at night. Got to surf heaps of breaks on cloud 9 island but they are a mission to get to. Cloud 9 and jacking horses which is the next bit of reef north of cloud 9 maxed out at a solid 8 feet when we were there due to a typhoon swell. Really different to when its in the sml to medium size range. Its the best right ever though, especially for bodyboarding! Be careful with what you eat on the island as at the end of the trip got really crook off eating some dodgy chicken! Still i'll be going back in the next 12 months. Enjoy.
