Desert Point

Postby oooproductions » Mon Sep 26, 2011 10:21 pm

I am about 75% convinced that i need to go to Desert point Lombok next May/June for a minimum of one month. Surfed it bout 5-6ft and only 6 people in June this year. Was wondering if anyone has or knows anyone who stayed at the Huts/Accommodation/Shacks right on the beach at Deserts and if so how much did it cost?/What was the vibe like towards bodyboarders?/Amenities if any?...I know I know its deserts, there are no amenities.
Really just looking for any info at all bout staying right where the wave is. Please help!!!!

Im 100% sure i need to go and so do you. def in my top 10 waves it is epic. I have heard the homestays are super cheap but expect to be showering with a bucket. I know it is roughly 60000 for most homestays and about 15000 for meals. Make sure you pack loads of insect repelant and mosiquito coils!!!!!!!

three options here Lance

1. Do the standard Nusa Lembongan/Lombok/Sumbawa boatie an try an wing it with your to and from legs. definately hit and miss but hey, if you get it you wont forget it in a hurry. The skipper will also drop anchor in the bay around the corner if there is a swell hitting.

2. Do your research from Bali and when there is a decent swell and tide combo happening (this waves lives and dies on tides) get a day trip from Bali. Quite a common option these days.

3. Slum it out with 200 other Brazilians at the numerous camps around the point. Be prepared for flat spell insanity, little to no hygiene and very basic living. Nothwithstanding this, you will get the jump on the Bali and boat trip crew and you might get the wave of your life 8) . as a rule of thumb, the longer you stay there, the cheaper the rate. But be warned, it is very basic. Not totally sure whether the nearest town has ATM so take your money with you. (could raise issues in itself)
