1. Name /Age/ Location?
Matthew Stephen Albert Ryan, 21.5, Torquay, Vic

2. Stills/vid/both?
just the stills

3. Current Equipment?
Canon EOS 1DmarkII, Aqua Tech DS3 housing with fisheye, 70-200mm and 50mm ports.

4. Favourite glass?
Tokina 10-16mm fish eye

5. Fave editing programme?
I only use PhotoshopCS3 or Adobe Lightroom so that’s a tie.

6. When did u start shooting?
Age 17, back in the film days!

7. Why did you start shooting?
Had friends from Sydney coming down to surf lunas a bit and my dad is a surf photographer and had equipment just lying around so I thought I could capture some sweet shots and possibly make some coin.

8. Most hectic moment in the surf?
Been a few, most notably though, got sent in from lunas the nomad chopper day – didn’t even take one shot and I’ve had a film housing flood out there too.

9. Fave breaks to shoot?
Lunas, Teahupoo, and practically all of South OZ.

10. Fave riders to shoot?
Bunting, Novy, Chris James, BP

11. Claim to fame?
Photo shoot with Jessica Biel, got a sweet portrait of her in the water, check it out in my lifestyle section on my website.

12. Fave move to shoot?
big bazzas or big airs

13. Fave shot ever – yours?
Jake Stone – Lunas and Alex Bunting – Lunas or novy SA fish eye

14. Fave shot ever – other photog
maxteds flash @ sunset tow out shots, amazing images.

Damons Pole housing Novy Invert @ South oz is up there too.

15. Who inspires you?
Damon Arandelovic, Lee Kelly, Daniel Russo, Scott Aichner, Mike Maxted

16. Wishlist breaks to shoot?
tama reef, Cyclops, shippies

17. Wishlist riders to shoot?
Well I’d be happy with access to shoot most of the interstaters regularly but of the ones I haven’t shot yet probably Rawlins and Hardy

18. Places that inspire you artistically?
Tahiti - paradise

19. What music do you play when you are editing?
The pod stays on shuffle, music for all occasions!

20. Sources of Artistic inspiration?
Checking out http://www.redbubble.com some great photographers on there.

21. Tips to riders you are going to shoot?
don’t change your surfing just because your being shot, surf naturally, don’t make any moves look forced.
