Didn't mean to get yours in there...But yeah the older Hydro boards before Elit were very different so i agree with you there...

Exactly. There are no benefits of doing that, kudos Mitch.

hahaha, it has been very funny watching all this unfold - and some extremely funny phonecalls last week - certain people 'crying' on the phone cos they couldn't find undies to match their fin/wetsuit/board combo - funny-as. And i did think Sammys mum was going to fall off her chair laughing at one point...cracker! Bloody good sport she is and a HUGE booger supporter.

anyways as fate would have it a rider from Spain was at my break the other day and he was running a Pride rig the same series as Sammy's. He said it ripped and had stories to tell from riding it in the Canaries for a good while before coming over here, and it had some nice reef 'scars' to boot. but of course i din't ride with him, cos he didn't have the right 'image'....
Oh yer, and sammy says his board "Flies"

That is probably the worst thing i have ever heard..No matter what board i buy i will scrub the stamps off..If i pick up a board and it feels right then its right..Thats half the problem with the sport its all about image "matching fins and wetsuits" my god its not a f@king fashion parade...
90% of boards on offer to people are made in the same factory, by the same machine with the same core..Manta and 4Play are not of the best quality and seem to not last long at all, Elit and Hydro are the same boards, NMD and VS are the same as Morey and LMNOP and BZ im pretty sure..

Pride make quality boards and are a good brand..just cause you don't "Dig their image". I think you should man the f@k up and take your matching dress and high heel combo and get the stock board and support the kid thats measurements your gunna try and rip off and take what stock colours it comes in...Sure scrub it and you can even claim you shaped it yourself...Imagine the image you will have with your mates then, They would froth on you.

And to top it all off...If you don't no the measurements how do you know your going to like them? The purpose of a custom is that you can combine stuff that you have tried out and get what you want..

Rant over.

I don't own a stock board so i'm not quite sure why your losing it over something so very, very petty.
I buy my boards hand shaped. Always will.

Mate, stop trying to tell me how to live.
I want a board that matches up.
Take that however you want. Just try - really hard - to take that in with an open mind.
I'm allowed to be different to you.
Stop trying to mould me.

So you want me to buy his board - which I don't want - and tell my mates I shaped it?
You're absolutely joking, right?
You're misinterpreting what i'm saying.
When I speak of image.
I mean you can see a decent rider in a sick set-up and it makes his riding look better, easier on the eyes - IN MY OPINION.
Opposed to seeing someone who rips in their red wetsuit with fins that don't match with the board.
I'm just attuning to the finer details. Keep in mind this how I see things. Right and wrong are completely subjective!

I never said that I was going to like his measurements.
Once again you've misread me. I want to try his specs out because he is probably my favourite rider behind Thom.R.
He definitely has the freshest style out according to me.
If Sam brought a sig model out with NMD i'd still get the specs for my own custom!
It's just the way I am.
Hopefully, hooooopeeefully you won't crucify me for being me.

All the best.
Get some sick waves.

Sam definitely rips and defintely deserves his own pro model.

Bu i'm confused.. I fail?
Fail at what?
Being me?
I don't need your approval!
I need a swift kick up the ass, hay?

What will that accomplish?
Give yourself a pat on the back, buddy.
Your opinion is law.

It really has been funny watching this unfold.
Kinda like how you twisted yourself up in your own attempt at sarcasm.
But as long as it makes sense to you, mate :D

Why not? Doc took a shot at him for asking for board specs and saying he doesnt like the pride image.

On the whole i think customs are only needed when actually needed. But that hasnt stopped others in the past. Why be a dick towards jackson about it?

Enlighten us with your "sick stylish" flipper, wetsuit, board colour combo. And the specs of your Hand shaped customs, And maybe the reason you went for those specs..And because you don't own a stock board how on earth you got your original measurements for your first Hand shaped piece of art..

So he can take a shot at me but i'm not allowed to shoot one back?
Mate, all I had was a simple request and got burnt to hell for it.
From nearly every corner.

I didn't join this forum to conform - I joined to discuss bodyboarding and keep the buzz fresh within me.
E.g To talk about Sam in Sam's thread.
Not write someone off for having a different opinion to my own.

On a thread related note - I hope to see more of Sam in the future,
progressing and pushing his surfing to new levels.
I admire the way he surfs and he definitely has an original flair in his style.
It would be sick if he gets more sections in mainstream vids.
Elevating his profile and skill.
I'll be watching, for sure.

p.s I didn't mean any disrespect to Sam's mother. I was just giving my very honest opinion.
Your son rips so incredibly hard and I can see you are very proud.
Hopefully he'll start turning up in the mags on a more regular basis.

Firstly, and I mean this without any offence.
You, are very, very far from being enlightened.

Second, you put 'sick stylish' in inverted commas, why? Please don't reference something I didn't say.
You wouldn't make a very reliable journalist.

Third of all, if you weren't so rude and came across with some grace, civility and just plain manners.
I really wouldn't mind sharing with you information on the boards I ride and gear I wear.

Last and maybe least of all, my first board was a second-hand Unknown.
It was pretty old and weathered but still had a really good stiffness/feel to it.

And mate, just some friendly advise. (Heed or disregard it, whatever)
I just think you should maybe re-read what you wrote to me. Everything you wrote towards me.
You don't come across as a very nice person.
It was as if you were speaking down to me.
You can't possible believe you are actually a better person than me because our opinions differ?
I believe you're in need of some soul searching.

Heed or disregard it, whatever.
Take it easy, bud.

How old are you? It seems like your riding purely for the image of it and that riding the more expensive customs and having matching flippers is going to make you better...I would really honestly love to see your reasons behind the specs your riding and what not out of pure interest..And i think that if you know what your talking about this is going to make people on here think about you in a different light..Other than "The kid who wants to rip off Sam's specs to get a QCD for the image". I don't think im better than you...You have voiced your opinion and im simply voicing mine. I just think that ripping off someones specs that you have never ridden purely for the colours is not cool.
Peace
