Dunno if they are legends.. but... Popey, Mr S. Lloyd, Roachie and Jennifer Hawkins.... If I had to choose prone riders then.. -You Are Organizing A Trip To A Remote New Break, You Have Access To Any Photographer Of Your Choice To Come And Document This Occasion, Who Would You Pick?

-Name/age
Tory Isles/33 (in march)

-Where Are You From / Local Wave?
Grew up in the Nulla / Shark Island. But now in 10 minutes inland and surf south coast ALOT more than the Nulla.
-How long have you been riding for?
First time i rode a lid it was 1984, but i got my 1st board in 1989 when i was 12 and been hooked ever since.
-What inspired you to get a sponge under your belly?
Seeing the inside of a barrel when i was about 6 swimming in a shorey out the front of my place at wanda shorey, then when I was 7 i was introduced to the ultimate barrel machine. Being from a place full of heavy sketchy reef ledges and no real beach breaks or wedges, barrels are the main thing im into, actually Barrel riding is still my main focus/goal in life... Nothing beats the feeling.
-What board(s) do you have?
Too many to mention. ATM riding 4play hps dallas 42/ turbo jackson 42/ Nomad 41.5 FSD/ Turbo custom 42.5. All have there places and conditions suited to them.
-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
got 21 years of chasing under the belt already, cant imagine doing anything else!
-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?
Heavy reef ledges, short or long.
-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
Maybe 10 years ago when i was fit and un-injured, i would have attempted the Clops. But now i would just shoot them from the water and maybe snaffle one snaky 6 footer. MAYBE!
-You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime or Launch Of That Section And Pull A Massive Tweaked Invert.
Nuggan? Wheres that? Barrel anyday, I havent got anything to prove to any one.
-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
A fat cutback to forward in the pocket.
-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
Im not telling you where im going to find the next wave haven!!!
-You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
UNDERGROUND ALL THE WAY!!!
-You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
Dessie, Doc, Jason Finlay, Warren "Wazza" Fienbeer to THE RIGHT!
-You Are Organizing A Trip To A Remote New Break, You Have Access To Any Photographer Of Your Choice To Come And Document This Occasion, Who Would You Pick?

-Where Are You From / Local Wave?
Sydney, Deewhy point

-How long have you been riding for?
Since i was around 5, but i've never tried properly or gotten into it until around last march

-What inspired you to get a sponge under your belly?
Dad was a surfer, tried that and the sponge was just more fun

-What board(s) do you have?
NMD always - Novy ltd 41.25 pp cresent, Ben player 41 pp bat tail and a Winny 41 pp cresent

-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
Yeah if i'm living around the coast which i think is a definate, a week with out surf drives marty crazy

-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?
Barrels and reefs for sure, although beachies are heavier in my opinion and can catch you by surprise

-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
Cyclops for sure not into the hawaiian surf really, maybe pipe but still not fussed

-You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime or Launch Of That Section And Pull A Massive Tweaked Invert.
Barrel of a life time for sure, not an invert man can't do them yet anyway haha, but if i came flying out of the barrel there and hit the lip then i'd go for a rollo

-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
Hardy for sure, reverse to roll

-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
I'm already here, but if i had to leave australia and i had his amounts of cash. I would probably pay the Indonesian military to clear the beaches and only me and a few mates would be out Ulu's and around :D

-You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
Probably try and involve the readers as much as possibly with some sort of chat with the editor and more competitions on ideas to brighten the mag

-You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
Winny for sure, chris james, ryan hardy (cause he looks like one of my mates hahaha) and couldn't pass up a trip without at least an invite for doc and tory. Wouldn't be complete otherwise. I've got this is africa on my mind so i'm gonna go with devils horn for the sake of it 8)

-Name/age
Conor - 19 (20 in 1 month tomorrow).
-Where Are You From / Local Wave?
Sydney, usually surf Curly or Turri depends who i go with or point if there is swell.
How long have you been riding for?
5-10 years. Somewhere in there it went from kooking it with friends to getting into it a bit more.
What inspired you to get a sponge under your belly?
My mate who i used to always skate with got a booger / fin combo from SDS one summer, i did to and it went from there.
What board(s) do you have?
Riding an elit PP team, bunting PE and occasionally a PP Custom x which is bat tail.
Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
Dont have any plans on giving up now.
What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?
Everything and anything. Just as long as its not fat and mushy.
Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
Well if i surfed 25 ft shorey id prob go down in history for surfing the worlds biggest shorey... so that.
You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime or Launch Of That Section And Pull A Massive Tweaked Invert.
Pull out through the back and probably get sucked of the falls. In my dreams id probably fly so high people would think im black.
Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
Probably a lame ass cut back / claim of a life time.
You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
Id blow up NZ and live in the family house down the south coast with a shotgun to f@k off any crowds.
You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
Id change every professional and arse kissing answer to 'what they really mean' without the riders permission.
You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
My mates.
-You Are Organizing A Trip To A Remote New Break, You Have Access To Any Photographer Of Your Choice To Come And Document This Occasion, Who Would You Pick?
Who ever would rather be shooting than surfing. Id feel to bad for the sucker stuck on the shore when the waves are pumping.

[pic]Id rather people not know who i am  [/pic]

-Name/age
Caspian Yurisich, 23.
-Where Are You From / Local Wave?
Perth :( Local wave is probably City Beach, but these days I probably surf Boodj more then anywhere else..
-How long have you been riding for?
On and off for about 12 years.
-What inspired you to get a sponge under your belly?
Did it as a kid and got good at it back in the day. I guess because it's fun? And WA is definitely lid territory..
-What board(s) do you have?
One horribly dinged manta proXT 44"
-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
most likely
-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?
Lately the whole short, punchy, square and shallow style wave has been giving me a boner. It's what bodyboards are best for.
-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
Not sure about 10ft low tide clops but 6ft high tide clops is the dream (hopefully a reality, sometime this year).. So the latter I guess.
-You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime or Launch Of That Section And Pull A Massive Tweaked Invert.
can't really see 10ft Nuggan offering the barrel of a lifetime.. So invert.
-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
Handdrag 360 + flop roll
-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
Tough question. For scenery, potential and uncrowdedness, I'll say Canada.
-You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
Something to promote shark hysteria/thin out crowds
-You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
Prefer to go with friends. But anyway.. Hardy, Rawlins, Hughes, Winny, I guess.
-You Are Organizing A Trip To A Remote New Break, You Have Access To Any Photographer Of Your Choice To Come And Document This Occasion, Who Would You Pick?
I'd check to see if my shift key is stuck on first. but Mr.Gallagher I guess.
-And bang up a PHOTO! Go on, get your mug on the forum so we can see who we’re chatting to and maybe we'll know who to paddle up to and say g'day out on the froth too!

sigh

-Name/age:
Stephen Ralph, 24, numerous nicknames such as Ralphy, Chief, Kong, Pier

-Where Are You From / Local Wave?
When i started surfing i was living in Secret Harbour, down near Mandurah WA. Lived in Mandurah, now Perth and in 2 weeks time Mount Magnet. Local waves were Secrets, Singoes and Madora

-How long have you been riding for?
No idea, 10 years maybe

-What inspired you to get a sponge under your belly?
My family moved to the coast so i thought id better make the most of it. I had previously mucked around on a boogie when we went to the beach but really got into it when we moved to the coast.

-What board(s) do you have?
Currently i have a custom PE QCD, PP AKA and a Turbo Mason that i have had for over a year and not taken it out of its wrapper yet, all are 42.5"

-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
I hope I will be, it all depends upon where I will be working, although distance makes the heart grow fonder so I guess this year in the desert will make me want to surf more and longer.

-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?
Anything that Barrels, although i dont think you can beat a 4-6ft beachy with crystal clear water, some barrels, some ramps and a lack of crowds.

-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
10-15ft Teahupoo, at least i have a chance of making the channel and if i was to come off, at least i would die in the most beautiful wave in the world.

-You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime or Launch Of That Section And Pull A Massive Tweaked Invert:
Barrel, easily, nothing beats the feeling of being swallowed by a decent sized pit and then come screaming out of it

-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
I would hoot my head off most probably, but if I was Hardy i would bust a huge carve into reverse and if i was Roach i would just do a massive forehand carve, spraying all the standups who were paddeling back out.

-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
Im gonna have to say Spain, the whole northern coastline has heaps of waves but I am sure there are heaps more secrets out there. The climate and the people there are amazing so thats where i would head. This was a close toss up between Ireland as well.

-You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
Has to be a DK feature in every issue. I would also like to see some more travel, even some tips etc

-You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
Well the first person I would take would be Jennifer Hawkins, hands down, no female comes close. If i could take her then i wouldnt want to bring anyone else along but if i had to then id take Damian King, Mike Stewart and Mason Rose

-Name/age
Brad James, 22/3/88

-Where Are You From / Local Wave?
South Coast, Shellharbour/Kiama area. Local wave is Mystics were I surf about 80% of the time

-How long have you been riding for?
8 or 9 years

-What inspired you to get a sponge under your belly?
Bus driving old budget mantas between the flags when I was in primary school then getting free RUSH mags from my uncle who owned a Newsagent years ago and being inspired by young dudes at the time like Andy Lester, Hardy, Kingy and the super grom's Rawlins.

-What board(s) do you have?
A Turbo Custom & A VS Rawlins DOW. I have allot of older boards not worth listing

-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
Hopefully I still find time to get wet, blokes like Doc who has a full time job and a family and a new born baby and still squeezes in time to get in the ocean gives me hope

-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?
I like pushing my self in bigger waves and trying to surf crazy ledges but definitely my favourite waves are fun 2-5ft wedging take-off's into sucky barrels with a nice little bowl on the end, beach or reef preferably a left :D

-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
I wouldn't surf either I value my life a bit to much  But probably Cyclops

-You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime or Launch Of That Section And Pull A Massive Tweaked Invert.
I'll take the Barrel of a Lifetime thanks.

-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
Cut back into reverse back into the pocket then gun it to that end bowl and smack a Hardy cross legs reverse.

-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
Tahiti

-You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
I would give a helmet cam to one rider per issue and make them hunt down a poster worthy inside out barrel image.

-You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
Hardy, Kingy, Rawlins, Mike Stewart out my favourite local reef on an epic day.

-You Are Organizing A Trip To A Remote New Break, You Have Access To Any Photographer Of Your Choice To Come And Document This Occasion, Who Would You Pick?

started with a looneytunes board and then peer pressure from older brothers!! haha!! no, i love it...i love how the ocean can make you feel. Nothing else compares.
-What board(s) do you have?
ELMOP Skipp 42.5 NMD Winny 42, Ben Player Bat Tail 42.5 and VS Rawlins 42
-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
Without a doubt
-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?i haven't been able to surf heaps of reefs but i love every reef i have surfed, something with a freefall take off into barrel, come out and line up a ramp to boost. paddle into the channel and do it again!!!!
-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
I'd throw my hand at Cyclops!
You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime
I'd visit the green room...always goes down smooth!
-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
I'd tweak the biggest invert ever and hold it for as long as possible until i have a split second to put it down back into position! YEEEWWW!!!

-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?

I'd built a hut on the cook islands and just boog and fish. i'd have a massive boat too so i could venture around any of the islands for new discoveries.

Pictures of me booging! haha!! I don't know...guest editors on each issue. different contributors to each issue???

-Where Are You From / Local Wave?
WA, sidies or beeps reef is probably my local, but good luck getting any waves off the 12 yr olds because of your local status

-How long have you been riding for?
6-7, hard out as much as i can for the last 3 or 4

-What inspired you to get a sponge under your belly?
my mates brothers started doing it when i was about 11, so naturally we all started doing it

-What board(s) do you have?
some old manta thing, 4play rawlins, vs hardy, custom x luehman, one of james cottrels old dk boards and a 4play king. kingys for decent winter waves, the luehmans good for tiny summer waves, and the dk board is good for looking like a kook with no idea how to dk

-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
cant see why not

-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc)
I'm not fussy, definately feel a heap more confident surfing wedging or barreling beachies but

-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
im not sure, cyclops would be sick, but Waimea bay looks like it has a better fun/death ratio

You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime
pull into the barrel, taking a really wide line through the tube, so i could bust a massive air forward on the way out, followed by the biggest claim ever

-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
a massive carve, they are the most technical move in bodyboarding

-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
Definately check out the west coast of africa, or new caledonia

-You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
probably post a thread on here and let you guys put into it whatever you want

-You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
hardy circa 2001, luehman, dally singer, and andy lester.. and the doc, because i owe him for all the free shit he's posted me, with jen hawkins on the rocks

Versus Mitch Rawlins PE Micro 38'
Pride 505 Combo PE 38.5"

-Do you reckon you'll still be tearing up on the sponge in 20 years time?
for sure aye

-What are your favourite sorts of waves (barrels/wedges/reefs/beachies etc) ?
anything aye, as long as im havin fun

-Would You Rather Bodyboard 25Foot Waimea Bay Shorey or Bodyboard 10foot Dry Pitching Cyclops?
10 foot cyclops, coz at least you can shoulder drop that hahahahaha

-You Are Bodyboarding 10foot Nuggan And A Section Loom's Up Infront Of You - Would You Rather Pull Into That Section And Get The Barrel of A Lifetime or Launch Of That Section And Pull A Massive Tweaked Invert.
never booged nuggan but it looks like a crazy wave so going big there would be awesome. and its 10 foot so im presuming theres photogs out haha?

-Assuming you had the skillz of Ryan Hardy (prone) or Roach (DK) - what move would you make in the end section after a pumping barrel at Hawaii Pipe?
crazily launched air reverse
or
a really long floater and destroy my spine on landing haha

-You now have the wallet of Richard Branson (super rich dude). You can pick a country anywhere in the world (but only one) to find fresh breaks in and sponge your brains out - where would you choose to go?
canary islands

-You're given the editorial reins of Riptide Mag, what feature would you include in every issue?
either wipeout of the month (photo included)
or
a big wave session section showcasing the guys that put their balls on the line for the biggest waves

-You can go with 4 legend riders to any break in the world. Which riders and which break would you choose?
Mike Stewart, PLC, Dallas Singer, Mitch Rawlins (i wouldnt say PLC and Dallas are legends yet but they are pretty good)
and maybe The Right down our way in Margs, just because i would be able to watch the craziest stuff go down with some of the best riders in the world

-You Are Organizing A Trip To A Remote New Break, You Have Access To Any Photographer Of Your Choice To Come And Document This Occasion, Who Would You Pick?
Phil Gallagher

And bang up a PHOTO! Go on, get your mug on the forum so we can see who we’re chatting to and maybe we'll know who to paddle up to and say g'day out on the froth too!

haha, i have no good photos, so just look for the grom with short brown hair, a ripcurl long arm springy and a silver and blue pride
