Can guarantee you will NEVER hit the reef there ever. because NP is not a reef break
ive surfed maxed out supers, like sets closing out pretty much the whole smiths beach, and ive also surfed like 6-7-8ft NP and for sure, NP is way heavier, the hold downs are longer, getting caught on the inside is much more freaky and its so much louder when the wave breaks
ive been hit by the shockie at NP on a 4 foot wave, not big but it hit me soo hard, rolled me and i got dragged a good 150-200 metres underwater for a good 15 seconds. that was a 4 foot wave.

:?
150-200m? c'mon man you didnt get pulled over trhe rocks and into the carpark

haha, yeah, for a wave to push you in that far it'd need to be jaws/maxing third reef pipe or something. And the inside is way more mellow, because it's a good deal deeper. I really can't see why you'd think it was heavier? I've never felt any sort of fear at NP, or had second thoughts of getting onto a wave, or anything. Some of the dredgers at supers give a much bigger boost of adrenalin...

Can someone post up some pics or vid of this North Point? By the sounds of it, it sounds very similar to Right Point on the Island but could be wrong.

if you happen to have pastiche, look for the point break in it that takes up basically half the movie

Incidentally, if you guys want a point that is actually way heavier than supertubes, head down to esperance and give Salmon Point a shot. By far the most intimidating wave I've had the displeasure of paddling out too. Alternatively, Jake's is similarly mental (although the one time I scored it I was noob and it was huge).

<--- that second photo you posted is more like it.Wannasurf really didn't deliver any good photos for me, unfortunately.

Keep on meaning to give the Womb a shot, keep on forgetting. A shame it's a left (it is a left, right?)

yeah I dunno, based on those photos I might have to concede. Maybe I just haven't went out at NP at the right times? I've been there when it's big and hollow, on a few big 4m wsw days but it's never really struck me as being super heavy or anything. Or I'm just a total hellman 8) Jamie, is that you getting pitted or the were you the one taking the photos?

You prob just surfed it wrong swell direction. Local around here is alot more hectic on a 4ft swell from the right direction than 6ft from wrong.

that would make sense, but I'm pretty sure I've got it at it's best.. Who knows. Gotta admit though, I might start checking it out more often after seeing those photos. When it's too big for Box (i.e over 3m) it could well be worth a look.

Crap! Totally forgot about Womb.
That's one of the best waves I've ever surfed. Big swells lines rolling in, a vertical drop into a barrel, with a big, racey end barrel. It is the best wave! Also, seriously heavy. Best wave :D
