Actually I'm talking about a combination of the two: You kick toward the outside, wait a little bit more than what kids are doing for their rollo's over the wave and hit the lip on purpose at the exact point where it smashes you enough to send you back in the wave's face. That's where you do your roll, land as clean as possible and start riding. Timing, positioning and a slow-but-still-lip-throwing section are the key. It can be functional as hell, cause in some cases you just happen to ride a wave you would have duckdived otherwise. The move itself is not difficult at all, but finding the right place right time to be able to make the bottom turn after it is another story.
Anyway I agree with you partially: if someone positions him on purpose for that and attempts to do it on each wave, not making the bottomturn, I would call it lame.

Don't worry slimes, I was just kidding.
Thanks for the frontflip shots also, that's really helpfull as I recon I wouldn't have tried this in such a section. Great to see we can benefit from other's experience to help us thinking outside the box...
" Shit I have this speed and the wave will disparear, again a reverse or a carve to burn it off? Nooooooo, let's try a frontflip out of this bump instead!" Sounds fun to me.

Take off rolls are great fun when you're having a bit of a muck around

I know it's been awhile since this topic was even brought up...but i was daydreaming at work because i'm bored sh*tless and i was thinking about the whole movement of an ARS...Air, Roll, forward spin...what if you line it up and smash the lip and reverse air to roll instead :?: :!: I think it'd be difficult but still functional...it may have been done and maybe even spoken about but i had the thought and decided to put it to the people!!

yar i would have liked to see the landing. It's at 40 sec
I assume it was jet ski assisted but i reckon it could be done and look good. Would be a sick move to add to the collection of boog aerials

Are you saying you attempted a 720 degree ARS?
perhaps that is called an ARSS (air roll spinspin)
Someone should try an ARRS (air roll roll spin)

I doubt he attempted an ARSS. I think he attempted a ARSE (AR you Seriously Expecctingustobelievethat) I mean come on.

Also, referring to the guy mentioning his attempts at a paddle out el rollo, I have fun screwing around with them as well. However, they're not functional, don't look stylish, and generally involving going over with the lip and getting smashed. I think I've landed a total of one. Fun to do but let's not kid ourselves, they look shit

yeah casp there s much fun, saw one of my mates get decked doing one, and it looked semi ok, with the whole moves of the back of a wave thing when you paddle out, it looks gay but i find it actually helps with my rolls first and now starting ars's
