Wow thanks robbo, really helps when i have a question like that, real cool of you to take the time for us groms.
think photocontinental is the easiest and decent way to get the camera, hassle my 'rents to get some money towards it for my bday.
Ive got a 4gb ultra sd for my lumix, might try find an adaptor to use as a CF.

first one seems like a crazy deal, to good to be true maybe, second one i wouldn't bother, i've seen 50D's that cheap, and you can get 2 of those lenses for under $200 so not a great deal imo, but im no expert

this seems like a better deal if you want to speen around 1k, http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/c-Stuff-fo ... Z212595243, can get the body for $950. or if you dont want to spend that much and have none of your own lenses theres this, theres photos so it looks more legit, and you'd have money for lenses

so this question was put up on the FZ forum and i wouldn't mind everyones opinions about it.
I didn't make the post but its involving the whole, was shooting some photos for someone and another person who was out comes in and asks you for the photos you took of them. do you offer to sell all the images of them to them for a set rate or do you just give them the photos in good will?

Someone asked me for the photos I took of them on the weekend and I said I was happy to and wrote down my email and blog address for him, have got no email from him (even if i wrote it down wrong theres and contact section on my blog) but if /when i do I will e-mail him a medium resolution watermarked copy.
I never had the intention of selling them to him, if I did I would have a set rate for all the images and told him straight away, and then when I got them email invoice him and send the full size non-watermarked photos.

What does everyone think about this, me personally i'm more inclined to give them a small watermarked copy of the photo and if it was to be submittable (maybe in the future) get his name and check that its ok if I send it to 'x' mag. On the selling hand I can nly see problems with getting payment unless it was all done on the spot (including transfer of the photos).

Give them away for free. Why not. Just tell them they cant sell it or gain profit from it.

im with con...not into charging people for photos if theyre obviously just surfing for fun and want something to show off to mates...or anyone for that matter unless they want to use it to gain some kind of profit for themselves using it

sweet, thats pretty much what i'm thinking, making people pay just complicates things and takes the fun out of it for both people.
funny thing is that as soon as i told dad the first thing he asked was how much are you charging him

dude, don't bother being a "photographer" if you don't expect to come into sly situations, just chuck your tag on it and be done.

could you please elaborate on what you mean by sly situations? an if by tag you mean watermark, then thats what im doing and have just had 20 or so photos uploaded by 3 people, and it seems to work well

okay base it off this

"oh hey your a photographer yeah?
yeah, why?
oh wanna come surf with my mate and me
yeah sure.
did about 20 decent photos and then they ask me for fuel money after I did them the favour."

I disagree with the other guys like Conjob n Comptee. I think it depends on the person your selling them to. If it's your mate then sure give them to him. But if your the person that has forked out a heap of cash on your equipment then I think you would be stupid not to try and get some money off them. Send them a small res with watermark first. Then if they want to purchase your photo then sell it to them. Worst case they use the small res and your name/website is being seen by others. Best case your able to continue to improve your photos by purchasing new gear. This is the problem with photography in the digital age. If I ever come across a situation where I can make some extra money than I will......

If they absolutely shred then give them some photos with your watermark on them and hopefully you will build a good relationship with the rider and you will continue to get good photos.

As for the photos and submitting them to mags, if you got photos of pro riders, most the pros are happy for you to submit them to mags. The more exposure they get the better for them and their sponsors. I always ask them if it's sweet and not once have they said no.
