GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS

Postby JONNO313 » Tue Mar 25, 2008 6:49 pm

OK now I have your attention I just wanted to say congrats to Lilly Pollard who won confital pro in december. I know I am a bit late. But for those of you who dont know she is actually a member on this forum, and writes for riptide. There are interviews on the comp with the girls in the back of the mag. There needs to be more cred for these girls.

Not only that but what really got my attention was hearing her best session was of an after dark barrel. Which I thought considering we had a topic on night surfing...It was pretty cool and got me thinking IM going to go bboard at night.

I've always thought, why is there always only one section in the magazines about the girls? they hardly ever get publicized. Hopefully we start seeing a bit more of them in Riptide because i've always wondered if they rip as much as the males.

as for the night surfing... I've done it only about 2 times, make sure your rejuvenated because sometimes you cant see what's coming for you. I think the mood changes a lot at night and it's a lot more just about chilling and havin' a relaxing surf

Good call 313 - yeah she interviewed well. big cred. the girls need more cred and page time, they have such a flowing style - and Ms Science 38 is forever in my ear when flipping through the mag... "where are all the girls??" cos she doesn;t like seeing the chix left out - and dudes, ya don't wanna upset her

ha - funny story - at Easter we actually had time to sit and chill, Ms 38 spots the Rt cover as I actually got to read it through and says - "that guy on the cover, who is that? " I go: "Winny" she goes "not Dave winchester is it?" DL "Yer" "Ha!" she says "I know him, my brother used to hang with him at school. He isn't famous is he?" DL "Yer" she just cracked up and lost it laughing.. the weirdness of life eh? small world...

sorry for bringing this back up. today ime and a matewent out this huge bombie today and two girls from my school decided they would watch us. any way we got ready and looked over to the girls and noticed they where ready and looking for a rock to jump off(oh by the way this break is off a rockwall). we paddeled out together and got to the peak. i took the first wave, got barreled and did a huge inny at the end i paddeled back out and saw one of the girls had gone the wave behind. she took off deeper than me and ended up in a huge barrel, she got out and hit the lip doing an invert nealy bigger than mine. i was stoked and very suprised seem as tho i'v never seen this chick bboard before in my life

Jack is brilliant that ya do, cos in my books the girls need all the profile they can get - if they know we are behind them it may just get some more respect for them and get a few out having a go on the boog.
Great story mate :)

Great to see the ladies getting exposure nowadays. We used to run a double spread of a lady bodyboarder every issue of our mag back in S.A. and they were more helpful than most guys! organising photo shoots, interviews and sourcing images of themselves. They also charged harder than some of the guys dropping into mad double ups hehe!
