Shark Island 2011

Postby doclach » Fri Sep 24, 2010 4:24 pm

Stay tuned in the next month or so for news of next year's Shark Island event. Final arrangements and dates are in the works, including whether it will be on the actual IBA tour or simply sanctioned again.......

^Well found Pete, but it turns out that is a leftover link from last year (there are a few weird/dead links on FZ - I'm going through them gradually and sorting them with the IT bloke)
The press release is up http://www.fluidzone.com/news/1646-2011 ... -challenge

I'll be commentating the trials, so if anyone is around, come down and say g'day. We've had some solid swells so far, let's hope they keep up for the wait period. The trials should be pretty good with some solid 4-5 foot lurking around 9-10 secs (trials at Cronulla Point as usual). If you're wondering how the Island has been in recent times, check out this DF http://www.fluidzone.com/galleries/thed ... ?image=535

2 month waiting period. Ooo yeah. Should be a solid swell in the peak of winter you would think so.
Mother nature can be a cold hearted biatch though. Looking forward to it though.

Solid swell forecast for later this week with good winds. Easterly direction though, I know the island likes a bit of south in there though. Any ideas Doc on the swell?

Would love to see it on a straight East swell. Island gets so gnarly. However that's not ideal I suppose. ESE would be epic.

Looks like it'll be good. Disappointed I'm stuck with work and then an arvo trip to Melbourne. Wouldn't have minded checking it out

Island looks pumping from the cams. Hard to tell though as its so early and not much light yet.
But looks offshore and pretty solid. Trials will run for sure

Reckon they should of held it at the island. It's not picture perfect but looks pretty epic. Better than Cronulla Point.
Suppose there are regulations about not being able to hold trials at the island.
