Strange. I've had conjunctivitis lately (get it every now and then due to contacts) so I feel your pain.
But if you've never had problems before until now, perhaps see a doctor or optometrist.

i get intense pain in my eyes everytime i wear sunscreen and head into the water, i assume its something in it running off my face and into my eyes. It goes away pretty quickly unlike your problem so i doubt thats whats causing it.
There call them fingers but i never see them fing

exactly the same as u mate. When i use sunscreen after a couple of duck dives, the sunscreen must be getting in my eyes...with the salt water it does sting a fair bit. Try to put ut sunscreen on a bit earlier so it soaks in more or use zinc...should help
Straddie is where its at ;)

Im another contacts wearer, had them come out once or twice in water but mainly in pools surprisingly. Had one close call surfing, had a little wipeout and one of my contacts had managed to squeeze its way out and was kind of hanging off my eyelid when i resurfaced (no idea how). But i managed to quickly chuck it in my mouth before taking a few more waves on the head, then paddled out the back, grabbed it out of my mouth and it put it back in without a hassle haha.

Haha true creevy, how is the sinking feeling in your gut when you lose one, and it's pumping.
So shit, you are so keen to keep surfing but for me I can't see well at all without them.

Used to happen to me all the time. I ended up biting the bullet and not wearing them when I go for a wave - eye sight is good enough that I can tell how far away a wave is haha.

I used to wear contacts in the surf, was OK but yeh like a few of you have said, its rank when you lose one. I bit the bullet last year and paid the $6000 to get my eyes lasered. Take it from me, its the best thing i have ever done, life changing really. Highly recommended and you are only out of action for a day.

Yeah ralphy, have definitely considered it during times when the lenses have given me the shits. Bloodshot red eyes filled with pus and insanely sore unable to see. Conjunctivitis sucks.

actually, this has been happening to me a lot more, more often too. Especially after being in the ocean overseas and coming back home my first couple surfs back my eyes stung quite a bit...
