Few bands I wouldn't mind seeing, but $400, definitely not forking out that much coin for something that will be mediocre for me.

Almost worth going for Mogwai, one of the bestlive bands I've seen. Every (EVERY) other band on that lineup suck terribly though, except for Living End who I guess are pretty OK. I'd consider going just so I could get violent and throw stuff at bands (except for Mogwai & TLE).

True, the Living End's first album is really good. Also, what sort of stuff does Mogwai do?
The only thing that really stood out for me was Modest Mouse, who I do enjoy from time to time.

they're basically the band that invented modern post-rock. Lots of super lush moments, but they're big metal fans and that comes through fairly often. Very quiet, very loud, etc. It also works well because while their music is for lack of a better word "arty", there's no pretension among them, just five ugly scottish dudes playing epic tunes.

Give their new album "Hardcore will never die, but you will" or their debut "young team" a download if you're keen on wasting some time with new music. Albums are a bit inconsistent but yeah, plenty of epic moments.

they weren't that loud when I saw them, but it was an outdoor show in the middle of perth so I imagine there were a bunch of stupid ass noise regulations. They are meant to be infamously loud but. Keen on seeing them again, for sure.

That line up pretty much represents everything I dislike in music.

Splendour can be pretty mad fun, if you're keen for a shitload of things I won't mention here.

should be called Spending out your Ass, $500 is ridiculous. especially sincemost of those bigger bands on that lineup have toured with more appropriately priced festivals/done their own tours around Australia in the last 3-5 years.

Anyone that endured the 4 days @ splendour last year would know how epic this festival is. Music is subjective just because you don't like it doesn't mean that it is shit, i have massive respect for any bands whom can make it past the pub stage...
