Hawii question

Postby aboard2 » Sun May 08, 2011 12:31 pm

I have the opportunity to go to Hawaii with the parent in five weeks. But they are goin to wakik. Just wondering ifthere is surf there this time of year or if there is a way to get to the north shore ad how long it will take to get there. Cheers guys

Unfortunately not. Summer pretty much sucks there, and even if there is a decent swell (which is very unlikely) it will be breaking dodgy anyway.
Your best bet is to just hang on the South Shore, as they get good waves around this time of year.
Check out places like Sandy's, Makapuu's and Ala Moana Bowls especially pumps.
If you do want to get to the North Shore, it takes about an hour to get there from the South. You can take the bus for $2.25 to get anywhere around the island, runs all the time, but takes a lot longer because of heaps of stops on the way. Otherwise try and hook a lift somehow, although generally its not that easy, and forget the taxi's or shuttles, they cost a fortune.

No problems. Sandy's and Makapuu's are a bit further away, but not too far. They are more on the South-East part of the island, which is still close to the South part. Ala Moana bowls is pretty close though.

Check out and have a browse through that. Got heaps of spots listed, and gives you an idea on conditions and directions to get there etc.
