Mind you, it was 1 foot from another direction and onshore everywhere on that day, except where we were.
And there was a maximum of 10 guys out at a time and it was consistent as and got bigger and bigger all day...

The day of the year there so far.

had a sesh a few weeks ago at a local break called the ruins with my cuz and my uncle. 4-6 ft, barreling with a few mental close-outs to spice things up a bit. I was out there. First wave i pulled into a crazy 5ft barrel that eventually shut down on me down the line. I think i hit the bottom too lol. About 3 hrs and counless waves into the sesh we were contemplating leaving due to the crowd, when my cousin just started freaking out. i looked behind him and i see a fin just coming straight toward us with another 2 or 3 further down the beach. as soon as i could feel my body again i started paddling for my life towards the shore. We get out and just lie down on he beach breathing like we just ran a marathon. We look up and see these dolphins just riding just beind the barels. pretty crazy way to end a mad session 8)
In the end we all die with nothing

Drinking

Drinking is bad Hmmm Kay! I'm currently sitting at my desk at work, hungover with a solid question on my mind. . . . WHY???? ?? ????? ?? ? I'm seriously contemplating putting a post-it note on the back of my head saying 'F#CK OFF!!' and putting my head on the table. Sure I'll admitt that yesterday afternoon just before I knocked off work I thought, "F$ck I could nail a beer right about now". So I did, I picked up a chick friend and headed down to the local boozer.

After the first 4 schooners I hit the pool table and even with a chick (that could barely hit the white ball) as a pool partner I still managed to finish the night undefeated. The drinks continued to flow and flow then shots then beers with more shots. .. . . . . .

What I'm trying to get to here is, why do so very many of us associate a good time with a drink in our hands? Is the next day really worth it? Sure I've had great days with mates but it seems when the sun goes down the fridge opens up. I've done fair stints of Zero drinking, up to 4 months at a time and I do a dry month every year.

I just can't seem to work out why a night has a lot more chance of me waking up in the morning and thinking, that was one hell of a fun night if I get on the gas.

Anyway I think I'm done drippling text so I think I'll finish this little yarn/hangover dribble with a few words of pub advice I've learnt from my 10years pub crawling.

1) Saying 'Sorry' will 9/10 get you out of a fight.
2) Mixing drinks isn't a cheap way of getting drunk, because there is a 50% chance you'll end up riding the porcilain express
3) If she isn't a great looker at the start of the night stay away from her at the end of the night no matter how Hot she appears to be.
4) Never even joke about rioting a bar and stealing all the booze. Bouncers don't find it funny and there is a very good chance that they are a lot bigger than you
5) If you get kicked out of a pub for being to drunk, take that as a hint to go to bed.
6) Never drink and drive, it's really not worth it. Factor a cab fair home into your drinking money.
7) Don't take 2hours to play one game of pool. It pisses EVERYONE off!!!
8) 'The Worm' is and always will be the greatest dance move known to man
9) Doing 'The Worm' drunk increases your chance of breaking your nose by 72%
10) If your an angry person don't drink Smirnoff and Gurana cans!
11) Listen to your mates. If they tell you your being a dick. . . . Your being a dick!
12) A night out can always continue at the Strippers. Those places generally let you in all hours of the morning.
13) The older you get the longer the hangovers last. My personal worst was 3 days later I was still feeling like crap
14) If you don't like beer, grow some balls and start liking beer.
15) Working full time and mid week drinks NEVER ENDS WELL

Thats all for now.

Swoods.

I know for myself, it appeals to the social aspect without a doubt. NOTHING worse than being at a party/bar/pub completely sober.
Like most of us, I enjoy having a good night out.

Swoodle wrote:5) If you get kicked out of a pub for being to drunk, take that as a hint to go to bed. - In regards to this tip, also don't try to sneak in without paying. Got pushed out of the front door of my local bar about a month back and banned for 2 weeks. That sucked

6) Never drink and drive, it's really not worth it. Factor a cab fair home into your drinking money. - Never ever do this. I am stupid enough to admit I have a couple of times on my P's. I was fine to drive, not that's justifiable. Not worth it at all.

10) If your an angry person don't drink Smirnoff and Gurana cans! - I'm glad I'm a happy drunk, not an angry drunk.

11) Listen to your mates. If they tell you your being a dick. . . . Your being a dick! - So very true. Usually its not me, but my other friends who I need to tell this to.

13) The older you get the longer the hangovers last. My personal worst was 3 days later I was still feeling like crap - I'm almost 21. But it's getting worse and worse each year haha.

14) If you don't like beer, grow some balls and start liking beer. - Not a fan of beer. However when I'm out I will drink it. I dig cider beer (I'm a pussy for drinking it yes I know)

Sounds like a rough morning Swoodle. Nothing worse.
Lately I have been a bit excessive with going out and partying. Especially as the waves have been so bad. Also my 21st is coming up not this Saturday but the next, and then going to the US for 4 months less than a week after. God help me!

Also - interested to know everyone else's viewpoint on alcohol, partying etc.
One of my best mates is completely straight-edge, and he's only 17. Used to be a terror back in the day. He was 12/13 and we couldn't keep up haha. Interesting how people change.

Savage, where are you going to be in the US?

Swoodle- I LOL on this one. I have never personally done the worm, but have seen more than a few get destroyed doing the worm while intoxicated.

Hey Chuck, I'm heading all over man. Starting by spending a month or two in Cali catching up with some mates, and then heading around Arizona and Vegas for a bit. Then heading over to the East Coast around New York, Rhode Island, Florida and well all over really, no real itinerary so shall just be cruising. Would be sweet to catch up for a wave or a beer if you're not too busy and I end up down your way?

Can relate to this so very much. I'm what people like to call an 'alcoholic' :s Seriously been living in my new place for.. 5 nights? Between three blokes we've smashed 5 cases, 2 bottles of Canadian Club, a bottle of rum and half a bottle of vodka.

Haven't exactly been setting out to get smashed either. Just get home and start drinking.

Live life is what I say.
I used to be fairly straight, just drank, didn't smoke, didn't touch drugs. Was full anti-that sort of stuff. I suppose growing up with my dad a winemaker I've always been around alcohol and having sips every now and then. I was always ahead of the guys at school from a young age with my "drinking habits". Like there was a day in about year 5 or something when there was about 8 of us at a mates house and his dad was out so he grabbed 2 beers from the fridge, and shared it with 7 of them and were actually getting scared while I just necked 1 by myself, much to their dismay.
I don't party much and even when I do it's usually quiet but I have been stepping it up lately haha. With GTM last Saturday I stayed at a mates house and got kinda rowdy and then spent about an hour and a half on the sheesha with the fellas.
Saturday got my buzz on (drugs are bad kids) but didn't really drink. Had like 3 beers and some bourbon.
Once exams are over, I'm gunna get railed but.

Drugs including alcohol need to be treated with respect. What go's up will come down and the more you put in the further down you will go. IMO people are the problem when it comes to Drugs and Alcohol. It can be fun but if your an idiot you can/will screw yourself up big time.

Dunno if this is entire forum safe - feel free to tell me to delete the post if it isn't mods..

Having been really really heavily involved in the hard dance scene in Australia for a long long I've realised that it is not the drugs that ruin someone it is the person doing and the people that they hang around that have the biggest impact. I watched one of my mates go from almost completely straight edge (drunk and smoked ciggies) to being one of scummiest junkies I know in the space of 6 months. But (to sound like a dick) he has a very weak frame of mind when it comes to this sort of stuff and was hanging around with a bad crowd. Having gone down a similiar (if not as heavy) situation a few years back it's given me a really good understand of what my am mentally able to deal with.

tl;dr - experimention will happen to 9/10 people these days but for god sake KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I've seen so many people jump in the deep end and not recovery.

Also - I am not condoming drug use in the slightest. If you are strong enough to never give in to peer pressure than you are a very very good person and will go a long way in whatever you choose to pursue.
