Postby jpe » Tue Jun 14, 2011 10:56 am

Holla,
i am currently looking to buy a new board that will help me bring spins back into my repertoire
ive heard good things about the Joe Clarke VS and was wondering if anyone else knows a good
template that will assist in me in bringing 'spinny' back.
any help/ ideas on dimensions would be greatly appreciated
here's my life:
water temp: 15c
height: 176cm or 5.10
weight: fluxuates from 75-80kg

This board spins great

Seriously though, the board shouldn't make too much difference. Generally a rounder shape should help though.

BHAaahahahahhaa

I think in the end it will come down to how you ride and on what board. If you think about it, it's going to depend on how you sit on the board during the rotation. Some boards will help you help and others won't due to your style.

If I was you I'd borrow as many of my mates boards as possible and try to figure out what template helps you spin the most.

For me I know a bat tail helps me out I think because I can get more of my body out of the water and let the board do it's thing.

I could be wrong but thats my 2c.
RIP my Science 1 board. You will be in my thoughts daily!

Generally a board with a higher wide point and a bit wider will spin better, im guessing my new Jono board is going to spin pretty well according to this

any feedback after you use it in terms of spins would be helpful.

Do you like a stiff board, if so then PP boards are slightly more bouyant than PE(in my experience) and will help your spins,
Go an extra half to three quarters of an inch in length to keep more of your body out the water, or as swoodle says get a battail for the same effect
I have found Hardy and rawlins templates to be super easy spinners,
like you said it the technique not the board so in considering what board to get for helping you spin then also consider that when you can spin well you'll be able to do them on any board and will you still be happy with the board you got solely to help your spins or are you then gonna have to fork out more money for a more suitable board?

Gold

Practice makes perfect :D
Although, I can only land spins like 4/5 mind you.
