South Straddie

Postby GoldCoastbooger » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:48 pm

Im a bit sick of the Goldy getting a bad rap waves wise. QLD in general may not be as consistent, and broad as the likes of NSW and WA, but we still have the potential to turn on some amazing waves.
Heres a vid i found of South Straddie, here on the Gold Coast. Not too sure if this is the right thread to put it in, but have a watch of this...quite possibly the Goldy at its top.
I know its all stand ups, but its the waves you should see, not the surfers. Next time you wanna have a rip on the goldy's waves or Bodyboarding standard, just have a watch of this.

Nah, straddy is trash surf.

Also the paddle over is plagued by crocodiles, sharks and lions.
Also the ferry dude is really a triad gangster and just robs you once you're halfway across.

^ those pics are fun Goliath.

I used to live on South Straddie many years ago - well before all the hype, so, as wonderbread says:
Also the paddle over is plagued by crocodiles, sharks and lions.

Correct information to be dispersing, haha (but too little too late these days)

Yeah, your best bet for a quiet session out ToS is to camp the night before and get up before dawn and go for a sunrise bash. It'll still be more packed than most places, but not as bad as it is mid-day on a weekend.
