A blaze of glory before the next exotic stop on the 'dream tour' - filthy poo barrels in New York. IBA tour is winning.

Such an insane day of action out there. Though the Zicatela event is still up there for the crazy factor. Can't wait for an IBA event in Tahiti ;)

Hopefully the IBA looked at the respective footage from Sintra and Chopes over the weekend and will keep that in mind for next years tour...

That is the most insane waves I've ever seen. That is nuts, more hectic than the Right I'd say. And anywhere else!

These photos are nuts.

No.
Maybe if you risked your life and sat on the inside, but then you would be copping 20 footers on the head. Not worth it, not doable.

Indeed Pete

epic, epic session. Perfect watch for a hungover Sunday morning too. Such good timing, haha. So much heavy gear is surfed across the board. Check the comparison to Laird's wave which totally blew our minds when it happened. absolutley no dis to Laird, that hadn't been done before - just the point at how much the psychological landscape has changed in big wave surfing for boogie and stick. Mindblowing.

So true Doc. It's crazy how desensitised everyone has become.

I am absolutely amazed given the nature of the reef there that noone was seriously injured or killed though. This, I think, can be the scary part, as people push further and further and into heavier and heavier waves. Not just talking at the apex of surfing but all through the ranks. You hear of so many more broken backs etc than you ever used to. I think the availability of the imagery pushes people forward at a rate faster than they otherwise would have, and that can sometimes cause issues.

That said, for those with the skills, keep on pushing.

It's definitely the heaviest I've seen it. Imagine what it would have been like with a stronger offshore and a blue sky.
