RIP Steve Jobs

Passing of a seriously rich guy. Love or hate the products, just about everything he did for that company was a good move.

Apple revolutionised everything multimedia. Their computers as of about ten years ago were just such a more solid option than anything the microsoft goons could do. The pc i'm typing from is a lumbouring old heap due to the terrible vulnerabilities of the windows operating system. my gf's mac (which has seen just as much porn as this beast) is still powering on like a champion.

Apple changed the way people experienced music, film and interwebz. Copyright laws and record labels around the world had to change to adapt for the new ways people were experiencing their music because of the invention of the iPod and iTunes.

They gave a solid hardware platform to communicate in new ways. And everytime i check the surf from my iPhone while snapping off a mean boris in the morning, i'll be pumped on the rad shit that Apple has brought to this world.

(now time to continue saving for a macbook pro so i can turf this crappy old PC)

horrible, overpriced hardware that can't be upgraded. The software isn't much better either; if you think Mac OSX is stable you haven't tried anything complex on it (recording on that thing is a nightmare), ITunes is the worst memory hog in a the world. Quicktime?? Safari??????!? I'm cruising on a three year old laptop that hasn't been formatted once; still going as good as gold.

Admittedly, they have nice aesthetics and my iphone and ipod have been tanks that have withstood some serious abuse. Near on everything else has been rubbish.

Microsoft have done computers? Oh wait that's right, you don't know what you're talking about because you're a mac fan.

Apple is what everyone uses. its easy and functional. most people who film good quality stuff edit on a mac. most people record music on a mac. sounds like its ahead of anyone else. ive had both a mac and another lappy, and lets just say my Mac was a beast. Im not on either side, just reckon apple deserves credit when its due

I say the same thing to everyone. If you don't play games buy a Mac.

What I mean when I say that is, Macs are like riding a bike with training wheels. It'll take care of you and make sure you don't fall and hurt yourself.

PCs are for people who know a little more about what to do and what not to do. You'll ALWAYS get better bang for your $$$ building a Windows based PC.

As far as the
most people who film good quality stuff edit on a mac
goes. At the top end of the spectrum I think you'll find that video editing is done on Windows based OS. I'm not talking about people who put together surf vids or little 10min clips either.

Like what I said to begin with, love or hate Apples products, everything Steve Jobs did for Apple took it from strength to strength.

mate i've done plenty of recording (audio) on macs. and i've found osx (and even the ugly old OS9 was good to me) to give me no hassles, especially compared to this pc i'm stuck with at the moment, which was in it's time supposed to be the bees knees (it was superseded the following week). most of the rad studios that i've seen are running powermacs. all through my uni degree (music, major in production), we recorded solely on macs and when i asked the techs in the block why they only had macs, it was because in their eyes, and the eyes of most of the audio professionals, macs were the bees knees for all multimedia applications. you buy the mac you need for your purposes, you pull it out of the box, pretty much ready to go. recording on an osx system has never given me any grief man.

but yeh you caught me on that Microsoft thing. slip of the tongue really, probably meant to say "windows based PC/laptop". and who uses Safari or quicktime anyway? quite easily replaced with other browsers/players...like that awesome Windows Media Player

at the end of the day it's a matter of opinion. when i turf this pc (finally) and score a mac, i'll enjoy the hours of painless operation while all the pc fanboys are constantly attempting to pimp their systems and remove viruses 8)

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Yea man Steve Jobs was an incredible dude.

Dropping out of highschool, then pretty much changing the technological world. He took us from Walkmans and Discman's to iPod's smaller than anything we could of imagined. Whether you like it or not, Steve Jobs has influenced you. I dare say 99% of the Western World have interacted with Apple through iPods, iPhones, Mac's, iTunes and iPads. You may not of owned one, but someone you know has and you have grabbed it, checked it out and decided whether you like it or not.

An amazing dude who should be remembered for a long time.
