Surfed EP early. Was fun but was FAR from perfect like I was expecting. The N winds just didn't really kick in early enough, plus there was a touch of East in it which made the bowl do this crazy side wave that was just wrecking shit.

Still got some barrels but overall fairly disappointed with the morning and if I had of known it was going to be like that I would have stayed home
RIP my Science 1 board. You will be in my thoughts daily!

Hit Torquay pretty hard today or should I say it hit me. Super hard paddle out but well worth the lung expansion. 4-6 foot with 7-9 foot faces, there were a few that I dropped nuts and thought best not drop in there. All in all big clean swell but a long wait between sets. Once on board long clean rides with awesome speed and great size. The only thing that let me down is my fitness, better start hitting the pavement if I'm going to survive the winter ahead. Going to have another crack on Wednesday. Big ups to the young dude with white top bboard and quicksilver wettie. Was good to have a fellow sponger amongst the grey army.

sounds like a good session jetzboy - were you on torquay pt or one of the reef breaks??

we're bound to run into each at gunna or nearby eventually chops - i saw a few liddies on the shore but the only guy who paddled out near me was on a surf matt in a zion wettie & i figured that wasn't you. breaks further south than torquay still a mystery to me - but i gather they pick up more size - guess banks are always the wild card when you invest in the fuel & time to hit up a beachie. Checked a really nice looking pt break not far out of lorne on a holiday - forgotten its name - but wasn't quite working so we didn't bother - good set up though. Not sure i'd be disappointed by being barrelled - but haven't ever surfed EP - fullstop.

Only down side at gunna was still fairly crowded - one std up on the inside of me kept paddling over the back of the sets - eventually started putting myself in position to take off even though he was left of me a few times & I got a couple of nice waves that way - drop on a surf board did look a bit tricky - saw a few surfers slapped by the lip. Also one blatant & deliberate drop in by a old longboarder which ended a really nice right - but sh!t happens - don't mind accidental drop ins so much - but hate it when they look, see you are coming, and still paddle on in front of you like this guy did.

Surfed twice today. Once at 6am before work and then just before.

First surf was at Evo's. Wasn't breaking properly but still got a couple of good ones. Got absolutely drilled on the inside reef trying a barrel roll onto ankle deep water. Shredded my hand up and hit my hip bone kind of hard.
Second surf was just at Juc down the beach past the surf club. Was actually really fun, reform-into steep drop barrels (close-out but still fun). Pretty buggered after those two surfs involving lots of paddling and a 9 and a half hour shift in between.

Jetz - where in Torquay did you surf? Because I was surfing around Juc which picks up a lot more swell than that region and it wasn't much bigger than 4ft. Granted - it was pretty solid and offshore (rare for this time of year).

Coastalwatch was calling it 3-5 foot at torquay - but this makes me very worried because - YES - it may be time to argue over calling wave size - personally I prefer to call it based on the head high system but only if I am referencing a garden gnome in my yard who I call Wendel - hence a two foot swell converts into a thundering head high mega-swell when I'm bragging to the rels - kowabunga

Nasty little injury toll savage - surprised you backed up for a second session - my little surf guide describes evo's as pretty much a high tide only spot - think i'll stick to sparrows and bird rock (when I can sneak on)

I was to to the north of the club straight out from the long wooden walkway down the cliff just before the rocks on the beach. Wave height, let's not start that one, I call it off the back of the wave moving away and a foot is more like the length of a fin. But it all depends on who I'm telling the story to!

weekend forecast looking very average - any non-secret breaks that you guys reckon wk ok in onshore conditions around surfcoast or morno - i've had some ok onshore waves at torquay pt but mostly with wind out of the S or SW - not SE. Can Gunna work (sort of) with onshore winds? Kind of desparate to get a wave in this weekend even if its pretty crappy.

Had probably the funnest surf I've ever had at Juc the other day (considering Juc is usually pretty average). 3-4ft, king high tide super wedgy shorey's that were actually rideable.
Me and my stand-up mate surfed it for 4 hours straight.

what day were you out savage? i've had some fun beachies at jan juc when it has held some size but haven't scored it like that for ages. Officially getting desparate for a wave - will probably go for a wave this sunday no matter how crap it is - not sure where yet.

just saw this - swellnet today - this kills me "Some solid 4 to 5ft set waves early with a light NE breeze. Best on mid to higher tides as there'll be a couple of closeouts on low tide unless you can find a good bank." anyone get out ? I rode my desk at work all day

had a really fun surf out at beacon yesterday morning. was only out for about an hour before it swung onshore but scored 3 real good barrels! I love surfing out front of juc surf club savage. when it's high tide and solid it can barrel so good on the shore!!

Derwent - it was Sunday afternoon.
Yeah Sammy I just got back from a surf then. Right out from the clubhouse, perfect tide, me and a mate were just pulling into sand-dredgers right on the shore. Was doing it's "suck dry on the sand" tonight. We had a blast. Did a barrel roll on one of them for a dare and ended up head-first into dry sand :/
