Just got back from an epic sesh at Grinders (semi-secret beachie on the surf coast).
Rocked up to the cliff and as we were climbing down, the only 2 dudes that were out came in. Me and my mate almost ended our lives by scurrying down as quick as we could to get out before it started getting dark. For anyone that's ever been, it's a very dangerous climb down and up. Was some good size rogue sets - some pushing 4ft. Perfect a-frames that would have been barelling if the tide was just that smidge lower. Not to worry, got some rad waves. Stoked. Hadn't surfed there in ages, one of my favourite waves for sure.

Reckon I'll hit it in the morning aswell. Fun waves around at the moment.

Sounds like a really fun session savage though i think i would pass on the lemming cliff run if thats an option - have never been there but have a rough idea where it is - bit too far down the coast for me to go there & back in one day - maybe next roadie with the boys i will try & check it out if conditions look OK although can be hard to take a punt with a crew. I am prob due to do some exploring - tend to hit up spots I am familiar with rather than try out new breaks - flinders & phillip island for example - should make the effort to branch out.

Yes lads surf has been really good out west. Played the 13th shuffle for a few hours yesterday. Clean 3 ft ramps with 3 other boogs out too. If the wind swings back to the north mid next week it should be amping again. Big ups to the other dk soldier, first time in Vic there was more than just myself enjoying the knee!

So I ended up at Grinders again yesterday morning after surfing it the previous night.
Although it was smaller it was heaps cleaner, and again only me, my mate and one other dude surfing a bit down the beach were out.
First wave I got was a bomb and scooped, pulled in, got barrelled perfectly and straight into the channel. Was frothing after that, except the swell died pretty quick, still got some real uncrowded fun peaks after that for a couple of hours.

Yeah it's an awesome wave, although if you don't know anyone that surfs it, chances are very slim you'll find it. Actually finding the path and directions to cut through the bush are pretty tricky if you don't know where you're going.

Just got more added to my tattoo yesterday arvo. No surf for over a week :(

sounds like you boys scored - surf reports looked good - would have looked heaps better if i wasn't checking them at work at lunchtime. You're damm right re grinders - i've got a surf guide that skteches out where it is & have pored over satellite maps, online surf guides etc etc etc - haha - no good - still don't know how to get there - some knowledge is (rightfully) hard earned!

in the meantime there are still heaps of spots i haven't got to yet - loving vic coastline - the more i explore the more i like :)

Too right about that, such an awesome coastline, especially further down south. So much to explore.
Derwent next time you head down the surf coast way hit me up. Would be cool to go for a surf.
Having sessions with mates is great, but they are mainly all of the stand-up tribe, which is cool I guess, but it's always good to enjoy with fellow shark biscuits 8)

cheers savage - will def let u know when i am surf coast bound in case it works out - be good to be out with some other lids - same goes for chops when i head in gunna direction - pretty clear you guys are surfing at a more advanced level but still be fun to hook up. Not sure about tomorrow - prob take a punt on the early at jan juc direction - reefs if working or beachie. Looks like it will be small & i can only go early so its high tide - might be a bust -swell and wind suss- but desparate for some water time.

How was the rock Derwent? Were there many guys out?
Looks like it may have been fun if it was semi-clean. I love it when it's smallish.

I got two really nice waves at the rock savage - rest were just average - there was me & one stand up out. It wasn't working at all on the full tide early but then as tide went out started working - unfortunately I had to leave. As it was there was more like about ten guys on it shortly after I left. Its a really nice break - just hard to score once the numbers are up.Flinders sounds ok chops - never surfed there - but noticed has some good reef breaks.

Trying to work out where to go for monster swell forecast for weekend - winds might be a bit dodge but sizey forecast for sat morning - maybe westernport direction?? Or bells (haha)

Saturday 24th March
Early peak in SW groundswell around 8-10ft, easing to 6-8ft during the day. Moderate to fresh W/NW winds, tending W/SW during the day.

Holy shitballs!

Only spot I'd think about surfing are around Fisho's/Pumping Stations. The only place that will hold the size will be Bells or Winki (maybe too big for Winki). Or Jarosite reef if you have a jetski.
