Sat sounds like heaps of fun at gunna chops - I couldn't get away sat - although I had kind of made the call to back sparrows for the early on sunday anyway. Bird Rock was kind of half working when I got there - later on looked better but had about 15 guys on it - see pic for idea of torquay crowds! Settled for jan juc beachies - got some fun clean lefts down torquay pt end of jan juc beach early. Bit of a crew out but they were mostly hanging in close to shore for some reason - so got some nice lefts into the shore from out the back - go figure - still haven't worked out why I was left alone for so long to scoop up slightly bigger sets from the back? Take off seemed ok for surfboards although a few were a bit steppy.

One for the surf coast locals - how big a circus is it in torquay at the moment? Going for the early tomorrow but tempted to head in the opp direction if crowds are out of control. Hope you guys are getting out though - looks damm nice.

Heard the crowds around the surf coast have been ridiculous. Always is for the rip curl pro period... Dad says he's been getting pumping waves all week. I've been too busy to surf. However I'm currently on a road trip with my mate to Byron bay for the bluesfest. It's absolutely firing all along the east coast. We are gonna try get waves around the ballina region in the morning. It's currently 4-6ft+ and offshore at the moment and getting bigger by.tomorrow morning (and still offshore). So keen

Heard the east coast was pumping savage - hope you and your mate score. Bluesfest sounds like heaps of fun. Have been too busy to get out too - tomorrow first chance - may as well get my head around easter crowds - will be crowded no matter where I go - so will toss a coin - heads = east - tails = west.

Can you say where you were chops? Don't give away any secret spots though - internet hanging offense. I just got back from Pt Leo - I am quite confused by what bit is called what now - a surfer today told me we were on the reef break called 'suicides' - months ago I guy told me it was a different part of the point area. Anyway - pics X 2 give you the idea - it started out smaller & a bit lumpy but some bigger sets were marching through in the end :D Oh - and g'day to the two other lids I saw out today if you see this post.

Nice looking waves there Derwent dependin where you parked if you went to the main carpark then the break infront of you is first reef to you left looking out judt on the point is suicides next to that is crunchies looking to you right is 2nd reef then over alittle more is Honey Suckles. We hit Flinder last night had the gunnery all to ourselves about 5ish till dark huge walls massive drops and barrels was pushing some decent swell, today we hit Flinders again Cyrils and that was Pumping again huge waves big drops and big barrels only down side i think on the max count there was 50plus bodies out so crowds were Sh1t ended up surfing inside section when the guys out the back fell off or were to slow epic swell we have had, grabbed a beer n some fish n chips and watched some fellow boarders out at Meanos and outers after our surf and was almost tempted to go back out but my shoulders screamed NO!!!!

Not sure i could do two days running in big surf chops - probably have a shoulder blow out too. Glad you scored though. I think I have finally got it nailed so thanks for description - which means I was on 'the point' or 'suicides' today (this lines up with online surf atlas too) - and other times - without knowing what it was called. Mostly have been there when its been small to medium - its a different wave when it has a bit more size - def more sketchy! Wasn't that clean at first - pics bit deceptive - but as tide came in started working better. When I first paddled out there was me & two stand ups - four of us at most - so crowds (unusually) not an issue. Break out the heat pack chops - you'll be right!

Haha - i am sure we will run into each other - was a last minute call re pt leo - nearly went torquay direction but thought crowds would be insane.

Surf reports looked pretty good chops - did you get out at gunna today? I got back home late from work friday so lined up sunday for my once a week early morning roadie - will probably go torquay direction tomorrow but gunna could be a good option - prob a bit more size down your way but wild card the banks I guess?? Sometimes when its small I can sneak on to bird rock - thats the torquay temptation anyway - although may be too small for reefs I guess.
