I definitely see where you are coming from Adam. However I do agree with brad:

brad wrote:I like the box (haven't surfed it judging from what I have seen) but it seems a little bit repetitive, most waves are just Scoop/tube/line adjust/exit maybe a bowl.

In my opinion, The Box is very repetitive, where as Island is an unpredictable, slabbing mutation of a beast. Put it this way, if I were to watch 30 minutes of pumping Shark Island and pumping Box, I know which one would get me more amped. I do however agree with you on the ramps at Box, people launch bigger and better there I think.

And pete - hahaha! that post was amazing, made my night for sure.

Yeah I don't think Island's underrated at all. I think you could argue that Box might *technically* be a better wave as it breaks more consistently in more conditions, barrels more often perhaps, it might even hold more size? (Or maybe the swells just get consistently bigger over here). But Island's a good deal more fun to watch. More unpredictable. A fair bit meaner, too. Of course, if we're talking the best waves in the state than it should be clops v island, where there's really no contest at all...

Yea you could say that haha.
Considering you the massive car park, crowded beach and lifeguards at Box... and Cyclops is a massive drive, down secret 4x4 tracks with a certain beach to launch a ski and drive to a specific island in the middle of nowhere.

lifeguards at Box? But yeah I had a bit of a laugh there, box is probably one of the easiest waves to access in the whole area, whereas there probably aren't many waves in the world that are harder to get to/more isolated than clops *sighs*

Island is just one wave in nsw.
Yeah it's mutant
Yeah it's fun
Not for me in the slightest,
But there are sooo many more waves in NSW that
Are better and less exposed.
