Charles Ward On Manta

Friday 21st of September 2012
Tasmanian charger, Charles Ward has joined the Manta team.

Manta now boasts 2x Charlie’s in the team with Charles Ward joining Charlie Holt and Hawaiian legend Spencer Skipper.

RT: How does it feel to be on Manta, with riders like Skipper? Also that the brand has sponsored some of the sports most pivotal riders like Rawlins, Roach, Eppo etc in the past.
Pumped to have signed with Manta! I haven't had a board sponsor since things ended with Science 2 years ago. It feels rad to be on board with Spencer Skipper and Charlie Holt.  Skip has always been one of my favourite riders so riding for the same company as him is pretty epic.

RT: Have you got plans or projects in the works now that you've got a fresh sponsor?
No projects in concrete at the moment, planning on releasing another clip online before the end of the year and have booked a big stint in Hawaii for this season.  From the end of Jan up until the middle of march.  Hopefully the late season turns on and I mange to snag a couple from the crowd.  Also looking at moving temporarily to NSW next winter to try and push my riding in some of the more high performance waves on offer up there.

RT: Is your brother jealous? Is there a rivalry or anything like that with him?
Harley and I definitely have a bit of rivalry going these days, especially when the conditions get big we're always keen to see who can paddle into the biggest deepest heaviest pit at the stern. He's not jealous of me signing with Manta because Turbo have been looking after him really well.

RT: Any last words?
Just a shout out to all my fiends up there on the big island,Australia, hope to see you all again soon and share some more epic times and waves!

Manta team manager Reon “Fish” Fisher said he was glad with the inking of Charles. “I meet Charles down in South Oz about 4 years ago. I was spinning out at how hard Charles and his little crew of mates were charging. He has good tech skills too, not just reckless charging.”
