Riptide #178 has Landed!

Winston McCall gets to see Riptide #178

That's right Riptide #178, featuring Ewan Donnachie on the cover, arrived in newsagents today. To get a glimpse of what's housed inside #178's fine pages click here.

Last week we were lucky enough to see Parkway Drive on their Deep Blue Tour (cheers to the guys at Resist Records). The set was incredible and it's amazing to see how far these lads from Byron Bay have come in only a few years. We managed to get a couple of the very first copies of the mag to Winston and the guys, and they kindly agreed to play a cool cameo part in our next issue (coming to you before Christmas), which is already shaping up to be one of the craziest issue's yet!

Is the cover shot a real photo? I'll say yes it is, and it's pretty amazing. Riptide just clean their images up horribly. Leaving photos unphotoshopped would stop anyone starting a rumour that could sink a business. Great photos in the mag from heaps of great photographers. "It's about bodyboarding"!

Dont know about the cropping of the rider, it is possible that there was not much of the rider in the original picture but i havent seen the original photo. As far as shadowing goes, riptide commented on the cover here

which may help explain

Cheers

I have followed Riptide since ever and do have in mind I Bodyboard since 1989 :) But with all my respect for your hard workd and dedication and really good design for so many years now I cannot pass by without making a critique...

Is #178 your WORST cover EVER? Where is the Designer and Creative Director mind??? Cutting the Bodyboarder and adding a black photoshop shadow that looks really really reallybad...and fake...I'm I loosing something here? is there any hidden concept? or this turned to be your worst job ever?

Best regards,
David
