King of the Groms

The Jared Houston Grom Bash

Here's the details on Jerry's grom comp, from the man himself:
"A cool part about coming home is seeing how much bodyboarding in South Africa is growing, especially amongst the younger generation. Last year I put on the Grom Bash not really knowing what to expect, but just keen to put a bit back into the sport, and give the younger guys something to call their own.

It ended up being a big success and this year it's back on again! The boys from Turbo in SA have come to the party once again offering some INSANE prizes for the winners and finalists and this year we have gone bigger again with two new divisions, Under/16 and Ladies Open, which is sponsored by the "Wowees", the womens bodyboarding club in Cape Town.
So with three divisions and a good swell forecast, coupled with epic prizes and the support of Turbo, Gotcha, Wowees, Cafe Sofia and the WPBA the event is set to go off this Saturday!

Last years "King of the Groms", Jason Fowler will be back to defend his title and to score another year's supply of boards! The standard of riding has improved drastically since last year, so Jason has his work cut out for him! I cant wait to see it all go down!

Thankfully for all the South African groms out there, Jerry's being providing plenty of competitive bodyboarding inspiration. Just check this new clip from the IBA:
