A lot of Shark Island Challenge news has been flowing to the Riptide office, so make sure you're up-to-date with it all below.
Trials
First up, the long range forecast is looking promising for the Brett Memorial Trials to be held in decent waves at Cronulla Point this weekend - most probably Sunday the 5th of July. There will only be positions for 48 competitors in the trials, so if your Oz Lotto ticket didn't pay out this week and you want a shot at the $10,000 offered for winning the main event, you better get your entry form in quickly. The lure of significant cash money and the chance to surf Shark Island with only a couple of other guys has drawn in competitors from all over the globe and Riptide Forum stalwart, Doc, has just conducted interviews on two South African SIC trialists, Jarret Johnson and Simon Heale. Check them out as they're an interesting read.

Store Promo
Emerald Surf City will be having a huge in-store meet and greet with all the competitors in this year's Shark Island Challenge on Monday the 6th of July from 4-6pm. It's a great oppurtunity to meet many of your favourite pros and get them to sign your board or a poster. Emerald Surf City is located opposite the railway station at 130 Cronulla St. They're also going to have a massive sale with no board in the shop over $300, so everyone's a winner!
See the Challenge Live
Limited Edition Fins are proud to announce that it will be hosting the official webcast for the Nomad Shark Island Challenge. The broadcasting of the event will include webcasts of both the Emerald Surf City Brett Young Memorial Trials (mentioned above) and the main event, which will be held on the best day of surf between the 7-28th of July.
To keep up-to-date with all the news regarding the event you can also join the Limited Edition Twitter alerts or the Riptide Twitter. They'll have constant updates right up to the event, plus they'll give you an alert the day the SIC will happen so you can either get to Cronulla to watch it, or view it on the webcast. The Twitter will also provide live heat commentary during the event. Do you need anymore reasons to sign-up?
Riptide will be there!
We'll be there with stickers, posters for you to get signed by the riders, limited t-shirts, and magazines. As the SIC's media partner we're psyched to be involved and look forward to helping to make the event a roaring success. Make sure you call into the Riptide tent and say hello.
Finally, if you want some images to tide you over until the event goes down the Riptide Forum has some great interviews and shots of Shark Island locals Dave Ballard and Alex Leon. And Limited Edition has put together this clip titled "The Nomad Shark Island Challenge 2009 - Locals and Invitees go head-to-head" to get you amped.
