The Fourth Turbo 5 Installment is a Double Hit

The Turbo 5 Sponsorship Campaign

In January 2010 to celebrate the launch of the new Turbo 5 board to our range, Turbo Surf Designs put out the call to the global bodyboarding community to show us the “hottest emerging bodyboard talent in the world to become a member of the Turbo 5 team”. The prize offered was the exclusive opportunity to become a professional bodyboarder as part of the Turbo 5 team, which means global team trips with professional photographers and all the other perks that come with being part of the Turbo professional team. Riders were asked to send video clips and additional information to stake their claim.

Finalist Four – Kalani Lattanzi and Giuliano Lara (Brazil)
The level of riding in the clips received from Brazil was simply mind blowing; we sought local feedback to try to separate the top entries because they were all that good. Even after that process we couldn't split the following two entries. Kalani Lattanzi's only 16 years of old, but he goes big and has style for someone of his age and we believe that he has a huge future in the sport and he's been offered a sponsorship with Turbo and is a future pro in the making.

The second Brazilian finalist is Giuliano Lara, who at the age of 34 is at the opposite end of his career to Kalani. In saying that the level of Giu’s surfing and the positive things he does for bodyboarding in Brazil deserves recognition.

Know Giuliano for over 20 years since he was a kid. Always a charger on big waves. Great tube rider, excellent in plastic manouvers like aerials, ARS, Back flips and all that or also great at the competitive contest kind of bodyboarding to represent your brand. Committed and professional is the name i would pick if I was managing a team like TURBO international. Good luck to all competitors in this great initiative.

I'm from Brazil, live in the same city as Giu and know him for more than 20 years, but what I'am about to say has nothing to do with that. I've been bodyboarding for almost 25 years, this invert, maybe, is the most amazing maneuver I have ever seen in my life. In the top 3 for sure!!! The most amazing is that he tried to land it. Giu is a great big/tube rider, radical, and has a incredible style, everything he does looks easy.

Kalani lives in my building, he is a great young rider, has a great future ahead, but this competition competiton has a winner and this is GIU!!!
