Getting the Word on Chout The World

Riptide: Whereabouts have you traveled to film for Chout The World (CTW) and where was your favourite place that you ventured too?
Rich Lornie: Canary Islands, Maui, Oahu, Mexico and the east, west and south coasts of Oz with the help from a couple legends. The Canary Islands was probably my favourite destination. Although I love Maui and Oahu. All are really special to me, they have incredible waves and amazing people. I could live in any one of those places at the blink of an eye.

Who has been the best bodyboarder to film?
So many riders, but Jacob Romero, Jeff Hubbard and Jared Houston standout for sure. Those guys go big every time I film. I should probably add Elliot Morales Santana, who I met for the first time in the Canary Islands, to that list too. That kid's got a big future if he keeps doing what he's doing. In Australia it was probabaly Andrew Lester and Shaun Pyne, as those guys surf big Shark Island amazingly.

What's going to be different about CTW than other bodyboard movies?
Chout the World
focuses on the location rather than the rider, so you get to see a huge variety of riders going big, while still including all the usual suspects in each section, i.e Jeff Hubbard, Ben Player, Mike Stewart, Mark McCarthy, Jared Houston, Jacob Romero, Glen Thurston, Andre Botha, Shaun Pyne and Andrew Lester just to name a few.

I grew up watching Strohy's Underground Tapes and the No Friends vids. I used to love watching those guys go big, so I've tried to keep Chout the World all about big slabs and huge ramps while mixing in with some lifestyles and the occasional interview along the way. From the opener to the credits I want guys buying my DVD to get so amped that they have to get out their board and hit their local spot.

Is it going to be section based? If so what's your favourite section?
If I had to choose, my favourite sections would be the Canary Islands and Shark Island. The Canary Islands section is pretty insane and this year the Island fired with some of the biggest swells I've seen in years and it was good to see all the best local guys and pros having a dig.
