The Peruvian Inka Challenge to kick off tomorrow

Here's some updates and loads of photos for you on the eve of the inaugural Inka Challenge in Peru.

Port Mac's Mayor, Damien King has signed on to compete in the event, making it a staggering nine World Champions competing in the event.

The beach has only recently been discovered, and a misreading of the map means it lies in the Chilca district, not Pucusana Chilca (only metres between two jurisdictions).  Nevertheless, Chilca mayor Pablo Nalda has been working non-stop to support the bodyboarding event with the support of Mayor Juan Jose, particularly in terms of transport and communications and is working together across districts to ensure the best of Peru is showcased to the world.  Both are working together to improve beach access, tidying the area and ensuring sufficient signposting for the event. All great things I'm sure you'd agree. Great to hear that the local government is so supportive of bodyboarding.

The email we received from the guys also mentioned something about  a local restaurant owner and his three daughters being "very robust and friendly to the press with an affection worthy of highlight." Not too sure what they mean there, but I'm sure we'll find out once more Aussies touch down in Peru today.

On the surfing front, both Hack and Chad are saying that the wave's a blast and really powerful and that if the comp gets some decent sized swell we're bound to see some crazy action go down. Wicked! Here's a selection of shots from the past two days, including the opening presentation and surfing.

Many of the photos are courtesy of local photograher Goyo Barragan and Bodyboardnation.com
