PLC Nails First Win at Buzios

PLC has flipped his way to victory over Guilherme Tamega at the IBA Buzios event in Brazil. Isabella Sousa won in the Womens Division.

You can click through to the IBA Press Release here.

Kingy has written a really good blog about the event (even though he was eliminated in his first heat; partly due to waves, partly due to sickness) in which he analyses small-wave maestro Eder Luciano's board. To view the blog, click here.

Finally, here's the video of the Buzios Finals and PLC flips:

From Guilherme's new website:

The event in Búzios is over and I’m very happy with the result. Despite the difficulties in terms of waves and considering the all event , I know I did a great job and get a nice result.

The hardest day was on Saturday. We are expecting bigger waves, but unfortunately the swell don´t have entered with enough power , which decreases the performance of all the riders.. I took difficult names (Diego Cabrera, Hermano Castro, Lucas Nogueira ) on my way to the finals but I was focused in the way that I love..

In the finals the waves had already half a meter, but still closing too much, with no space to connect maneuvers..Pierre Louis started strong, imposing a rhythm quite radical, counting with the luck of the waves , that matters a lot in those hours.. I took a good shake from the French, that i found very positive at the end, to wake up and fight for a better place in the future. .

Congratulations to Pierre for this result…. Let´s go to Arica!

For me, it wasn't any surprise PLC won that contest here in Brasil. I saw him surfing my spot here in Rio, Sao Conrado, and he was killing it in the week before that event, easily the best in the water from more than 60 guys. Congratutalions Pierre!
