Alonzo wins AGIT/Turbo Zicatela Pro Trials.
AGIT/Turbo Zicatela Pro, presented by Found Boards, ID Boards, and Colorada Surf.
Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca / Mexico (Wednesday, Aug 6, 2011).Sergio Alonzo (VEN) has won the Turbo Zicatela Pro trials, narrowly beating Joe Clarke (AUS) in second and strangle holding Igor Sanchez (CNY) third and Ulises Rodriguez in fourth, both requiring a combination of scores to win. Alonzo scored an impressive 9.15 on a high flying invert to secure his position into the 2011 AGIT/Turbo Zicatela Pro Grand Slam as the top seeded trialist.
"I am really happy I made it into the GSS event," Sergio elated. "Now, I will give it my all!"
Sergio has his work cut out with a GSS round one matchup against 05 & 07 World Champion, Ben Player (AUS), Dallas Singer (AUS) and fellow trialist, Jack Cerne (AUS). Ulises Rodriguez (MEX) is the only local competitor who has managed to secure himself a spot in the AGIT/Turbo Zicatela Pro Grand Slam event. Finishing fourth in the trials, Rodriguez is seeded to face Pierre-Louis Costes (FRA), Dave Winchester (AUS) and fellow trials finalist, Igor Sanchez (CNY) in his Round 1 GSS heat.
"I will fight for all I can and thank my family for their support and am proud to be representing Mexico" Rodriguez added.
The remaining four trialists, managing to secure a spot in the GSS event are:
