Title Calculations...

BPF Venezuela Pro

Let's begin at the recently completed GQS Bodyboard Pro Festival in Venezuela, where everything else delivered, except for the waves - as you can see in the shot above.

Women's Division
1st Isabella Sousa
2nd Luz Marie Grande Perez
= 3rd Eunate Aguirre
= 3rd Maylla Venturin

DK Division
1st Dave Hubbard
2nd Damian King
= 3rd Jhonys Diaz
= 3rd Ardiel Jimenez

Men's Division
1st Eder Luciano
2nd Enyer Moncada
= 3rd Alejandro Hernandez
= 3rd David Mantellini

= 5th Damian King

After Kingy's DK finals appearance the following classic Kingy call appeared on Unite Clothing's Twitter: "Fuck yeah! "Got second in DK [at the Bodyboard Pro Festival, Venezuela], pretty much sealed the deal for the World Title!" - Damian King

We quickly scrambled to get the word on just how close the Kingston is to claiming the DK crown and received the following breakdown from IBA Head Judge Craig Hadden:

DK World Title Details

This shows that the contenders for the DK World Title are Kingy, Dubb and current World Champ Cesar Bauer (who recently released this clip). For Kingy to stitch up the title in Puerto Rico, he needs to make the semi finals.
At this stage the Encanto Series is the last DK event of the year and there's the possibility that two or more riders could find themselves on equal points (for example Cesar wins, Kingy finishes fifth). Should that happen, then the countback goes to the Sintra event, which Dave Winchester won, but Kingy finished one place higher than Dubb and one round higher than Cesar.

Now Hardy's been a man busy crunching the data for the GSS World Tour race and he's developed the following scenario (which is the clearest we've seen):
To become a three-times World Champion, Hawaiian Jeff Hubbard needs to win the Encanto Pro in Puerto Rico next week. However, according to careful calculations by Ryan Hardy, which were confirmed by IBA Head Judge, Craig Hadden, there are 12 other World Title contenders, from five different nations, going into the second last event of the IBA Grand Slam Series World Tour.

The 12 riders names are: Guilherme Tamega (BRA), Ryan Hardy (AUS), Amaury Lavernhe (REU), Dave Winchester (AUS), Mark McCarthy (ZAF), Pierre-Louis Costes (FRA), Jared Houston (ZAF), Magno Oliveira (BRA), Ben Player (AUS), Dallas Singer (AUS), Jake Stone (AUS) and Uri Valadao (BRA).

According to Ryan Hardy there are three different groups of riders:
Group C: Ben Player, Dallas Singer, Jake Stone, Jared Houston, Magno Oliveira and Uri Valadao.
Group B: Amaury Lavernhe, Dave Winchester, Guilherme Tamega, Mark McCarthy and Pierre-Louis Costes.
Group A: Ryan Hardy.

If Hubb places fifth, riders in Group C need to win, riders in Group B need to finish second or better and the rider in Group A needs to place third or better.

If Hubb places third, riders in Group C are out of contention, but Jake Stone and Magno Oliveira move into Group B while Dave Winchester and Guilherme Tamega move into Group A. The riders in Group B need to win and riders in Group A need to place second or better.

If Hubb comes second, riders in Group A need to win.

If Hubb wins the event, Ryan Hardy needs to place second in order for the title to be decided in the Canary Islands.

Hectic times ahead!

For the DK case that Kingy ends 5th in Puerto Rico and Cesar Bauer 1st, going to the sintra results, Cesar finished equal 3rd there, well above Damian King who finished 9th , so the crown will be for Cesar, so the info up here is wrong.
