Hawaiian aerial specialist Jeff Hubbard has etched his name into the history books after taking out the inaugural Free Surf Bodyboarding Final Series.
Hubbard etched out his Australian rivals Lewy Finnegan and Davis Blackwell in dramatic fashionnto take home the FSB trophy.
The Grand Final presented by Shotbox had an explosive amount of votes from the public with record numbers being calculated from around the world.
Throughout the entire FSB Final Series, these three athletes rose above all other competitors to make it into the Final.
The scores were super tight between the three, but it was a last minute surge of support for the 3x World Champion in the last 12 hours of voting that gave him a small advantage in the public vote, edging ahead by a mere 1.6 per cent.
The high level of riding made it even harder for the professional Judges to choose their favourite clip with scores coming in level between Jeff and Davis.
Hubbard took home a ShotBox S71 Action Camera for winning the finals series.
It caps off a rollercoater year for the former world champion after he was sidelined for much of the APB Tour after breaking his ankle surfing in Australia earlier in the year.
He then bounced back in incredible style, winning the final event of the APB Tour, The Encanto Pro Cultura, in November.
Hubbard said he will donate his winning prize to his filmer, Matt Tanaka.
“Matt was the driving force behind the clip we put together. He would pull together some extra promo clips and promote it through social media, which I think was a huge help of getting the public vote in the end” Hubbard said.
