The Sparkgreen Tahiti Challenge presented by OPT and Air Tahiti Nui is less than a month away and anticipation is building.
Since our last announcement, we have managed to sniff out a few more details on the event including trials information.
The Tahiti Challenge Trials will take place from April 18 at Teahupo’o with the top eight traillists going through to the main event (which begins on April 22).
Trials positions will be capped at 64 athletes being first 32 Internationals and first 32 Tahitians to pay and secure their spots. Head to www.apbtour.com to register.
All competitors, including those in the trials, are eligible for an airfare discount if they book their flights through Air Tahiti Nui.
There are three APB Wildcards and Two local wildcards to be announced for the event, more details to come.
APB TOUR UPDATE
There are now 11 proposed events on this year’s APB Men’s World Tour following the addition of the Alcala Tenerife Challenge.
The Canary Island’s event is currently classified as a 2 star event and will follow on from the 4 star rated El Fronton Showdown.
Each rider will count their five best results throughout the year to determine the 2016 World Champion.
The Women’s World Tour will consist of five events, including the 4 star rated Ichinomiya Pro in Japan which features a $25,000 prize purse and the return of the ladies to El Gringo for the Arica Challenge in July.
The Pro Junior will follow the men’s tour for five events, while the Dropknee World Tour will once again come down to the Sintra Pro.
